This feature is especially useful for players going into the game all alone. They would now have some decoys for those Hulks to focus on while they laid hellfire on them. Of course, this game does not get magically easy with these new features, but they would be a great help.

On the other hand, the size and speed of the NPC Helldivers make them much more useful; they can run around the map dodging those bullets, and they can approach their target with unmatched speed. On the other hand, they can be cheap bait for larger enemies that need some distraction.
No matter what players choose, one thing is for sure: Arrowhead Game Studios is surely transforming this game into something very special. Giving more options to players so they can enjoy this dynamic game to the fullest.
