Where To Find Shriekers

Look For The Mushrooms

Shriekers will only appear onDifficulty 7 and above, and will spawn from a colony of two to three mushrooms when the player is within 130 meters of the nest. These mushroom colonies are usually found close to the edges of the map.

Shrieker nests will resemble Spore Spewers in that they’re both fairly tall and have glowing lights underneath the cap. However, one of the biggest differences between them is that the Shrieker Nest is armored at the top while the Spore Spewers are not. This means Shrieker nests must be taken down with weapons that have good armor penetration, orstratagems with a large Area of Effectto hit multiple mushrooms at once.

How To Defeat Shriekers

Shoot Their Wing Joints

When fighting these flying Terminids, aim for their head or the joints connecting their wings to their body. Shriekers should go down from 1 to 2 shots from almost any main weapon, butthe Sluggerand Punisher are particularly effective at swatting these monsters from the sky.

Just be careful not to shoot these bugs as they’re swooping at you - their bodies will turn into high-speed projectiles that will hit you with the force of a freight train, easily crushing any Helldiver unlucky enough to be caught in the ensuing crash. It’s better to just take the initial attack, or walk to your left or right to avoid the attack, then turn around and shoot the Shrieker while it flies away. If you do kill a Shrieker as its swooping toward you, dive out of the way and hope the mangled, dead Shrieker missile doesn’t clip your feet.

Best Way To Destroy Shrieker Nests

When you approach these nests, you’ll be given the option to call down aHellbomb to destroy all of the mushrooms at once. This option requires the least amount of resource investment, but it’s also the riskiest and slowest option to use. If you’re being chased by a horde of bugs, your pursuers can also destroy the bomb before it goes off.

Ideally, you’ll want to stay over 130 meters away from the nests. Within 130 meters is the range where the nests will start sending Shriekers at you. Stratagem weapons are the best option to destroy the nests and stay far away from the obnoxious fliers. Out of all the stratagem weapons, the Autocannon, Recoilless RIfle, and HMG emplacement all standout as efficient means to destroy an entire Shrieker Nest from a safe distance away.

If you are using an EAT-17 or Recoiless Rifle, be sure to also bring Impact Grenades since it’s one rocket and two impact grenades to bring down a mushroom.

For call-in stratagems, the Orbital Precision Strike, Eagle 500KG, and Orbital 120MM Strike are all capable of taking out multiple mushrooms in a single call-in. You can use these stratagems to save grenades and ammo in your stratagem weapon. Alternatively, if you plan on hunting after these nests, equipping armor that extends your throw rangeor gives you an additional two grenades is also a great way to help your build efficiently wipe Shriekers off the map.
