Ninja Theory’s Hellblade 2 is a third-person action-adventure game set to launch on June 12, 2025. It is a sequel to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and features similar gameplay aspects and the exploitation of Senua’s mental condition. The game takes place in Ireland, expands on the existing Norse mythology, and promises a more robust combat system witha wide range ofopponents.

In the last couple of years, AAA titles have earned a bad reputation for often delivering a downgraded version compared to the advertised game.
However, Ninja Theory seeks to change that trend. The developers recently published a video on their official YouTube Channel featuring a scene from the original Hellblade 2 gameplay trailer, showcasing remarkable visual upgrades in a side-by-side comparison.

Ninja Theory Has Worked on a Major Visual Overhaul For Hellblade 2
Hellblade 2 was initially revealed by Ninja Theory during the 2019 Game Awards with the Xbox Series X. At that time, the game’s realistic visuals caught everyone’s attention, but the studio didn’t reveal anything more and went into deep sleep. However, they returned with the 2021 Game Awards to deliver a gameplay trailer that shocked everyone again and kicked off a massive hype train.
With just a few weeks until Hellblade 2’s launch, Ninja Theory has surprised us all again. The studio’snew 20-minute video on YouTubecentered around Senua’s psychos features a scene from the original 2021 gameplay trailer. Fans started comparing the recent build scene with the clip from 2021, and the differences in visuals are quite surprising.

Without a doubt, Ninja Theory has delivered a massive visual upgrade for Hellblade 2. The current rendition of the scene shows an obvious improvement in various aspects, such as Senua’s skin, skin and clothing. That’s not all; the developers have overhauled the lightning and the surrounding environment.

The 2021 gameplay trailer was already quite impressive. However, the upgraded visuals of the current build make the game look like a complete remaster. We aren’t downplaying the visuals showcased in the original trailer, but seeing how much progress the developers have made since 2021 is surprising.
It’s crucial to remember that the game’s latest trailer version is still a pre-release build. There’s a high chance that the final version might look even more visually stunning.

Microsoft’s Massive Marketing Failure With Hellblade 2
“Where is the Hellblade 2 marketing?”: After Arkane Austin’s Closure, Fans Worry for Ninja Theory and Hellblade 2
While Ninja Theory is working hard to deliver a polished AAA title, it seems likeMicrosoft has completely dropped the ball when it comes to the game’s marketing campaign. It’s a massive game, so it should appear in Steam’s best sellers right ahead of its release on August 15, 2025. However, Hellblade 2 is nowhere near the top 200 games.
Where is the Hellblade 2 marketing? If you’ve seen it let me know.
For comparison, games such as Titanfall 2 are still selling better. This means that Hellblade 2 might be a massive disappointment at launch. Fans of the franchise blame Microsoft’s marketing campaign or lack thereof. Many users believe that most of the casual gamers aren’t even aware of the title’s release.

Microsoft is slowly picking up the pace, finally releasing various video promotions and banners to create hype for the single-player title. However, there’s still a doubt if Ninja Theory’s upcoming game will be able to make a comeback from this situation.
