Legendary record producer Irv Gotti unfortunately passed away on February 5th, 2025. The Murder Inc., founder has worked with Ashanti, Ja Rule, and many more popular artists throughout his career. However, he has also beefed with many.
Most famously, his beef with rapper 50 Cent has been brewing for years. Although many would have thought that by now they would be on their way to finally make up. Gotti’s words years before his death prove otherwise.
In fact, 50 Cent’s Instagram post after Irv Gotti’s passing, too, has raised some eyebrows. Although the old clip only made its way back into the spotlight due to Cent’s recent feud with Big Meech, it’s a disheartening look back all the same.
Irv Gotti and 50 Cent had a long history of feuding
50 Cent has been beefing with several people throughout his career. For example,P Diddy whose downfall has been widely celebrated by the rapper. Another of Cent’s most famous beef has been with 90s big-shot rapper Ja Rule. Incidentally, this beef was the root cause of 50 Cent and Irv Gotti’s growing animosity.
Although it is not uncommon for rappers to clash from time to time, asKendrick Lamar and Drake have proven recently, the feud between Cent and Gotti is a bit different. According toDaily Mail, it started when a close acquaintance of 50 Cent allegedly robbed Ja Rule in 1999.
While Ja Rule and Murder Inc. hurled accusations at 50 Cent’s crew, the latter responded withYour Life’s on the Line. Things escalated next year with both parties repeatedly resorting to violent altercations.

Moreover, the same year 50 Cent also fell victim to a shooting outside his grandmother’s home where he suffered nine bullet injuries. The incident happened in Queens, New York, with the prime suspect being the area’s dr*glord Kenneth McGriff, who was an associate of Irv Gotti.

In aninterview with DJ Vlad, the record producer compared the rapper to Satan. In fact, according to him, only Satan could have saved him from those lethal injuries as he wanted to work through 50 Cent.

I don’t think God would save somebody who disrespects his own family…Everything you think of 50 is just negative. He’s just an engine of negativity, beef, chaos.
