Halo Fans Think A Reboot Of The Series Would Work If It Follows Fallout’s Recipe For Success
The Hollywood Reporterrecently confirmed the cancelation of the Halo series at Paramount+ after delivering two seasons. The streamer said “We are extremely proud of this ambitious series” in a statement and thanked the cast and crew for their “outstanding work” before wishing the team well going forward.
Starring Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief, the Halo series first aired in 2022 and followed the 26th-century war between the United Nations Space Command and the Covenant, with Jen Taylor reprising her in-game voice role as Cortana. Despite the series being pulled from Paramount, sources say producers Amblin, Xbox, and 343 will look for another platform to showcase a third season.

News of the show’s axe didn’t come as a surprise to the fandom, as several fans loyal to the videogames called out the adaptation’s changes to the source material from the beginning - including the bold decision to have John-117’s Master Chief appear without this helmet in most episodes when the protagonist never removes his headpiece in-game.
Touching on those changes, one viewer on social media hit the nail on the head, saying “I understand the creative desire to add your own spin/flavor into something but I think when you have a legendary IP like Halo, you need to follow that golden playbook pretty closely. There are so many iconic moments people would have went crazy over if they adapted them.”

A majority of the fandom is now calling for the show to be rebooted, saying “I’d say let it die and rest for a while. Then reboot it a few years later starting from scratch and actually respecting the source material,” and “It doesn’t deserve a 3rd season. Reboot it and do it right this time.”
Additionally, several fans wanted to see the reboot follow the same route as Amazon Prime’s Emmy-nominatedFalloutseries, naming the platform as a possible outlet to have a stab at the adaptation. “The success of Fallout proved that staying true to the source material and not s******* on it for the sake of ‘creative freedom’ can be profitable.”
Actor Ella Purnell, who played Vault Dweller Lucy in the Fallout adaptation, was mentioned to star in the wanted Halo reboot since she seems like a good omen for live-action videogame adaptations, after her success with Fallout and Netflix’sArcane, where she voices Jinx.
