After survivingSvartalfheim’s wild ridein the form of a run-away mining cart, you’ll arrive in Jarnsmida Pitmines. Though you’re deep into your search for Tyr, it’s important to open the Nornir Chest in this area to help prepare for the tough battles ahead inGod of War Ragnarok.

The problem is, it can betricky to solvethe puzzle that unlocks the chest. If you’re having difficulty, this walkthrough will guide you toward the solution.
What Are Nornir Chests?
Nornir Chestsare one of a variety of recurring puzzles you’ll come across in God of War Ragnarok. You’ll need toactivate, destroy, or match three mystical runesfound in the world that mirror the blue runes emblazoned on the front of the Nornir Chest. Each Nornir Chest willrewardyou with one of two items:

Light Three Runic Braziers
Each Nornir Chest will require one of several puzzle types. For the Jarnsmida Pitmines Nornir Chest, you will need to seek outthree runic braziersand light them with yourL2+R2 Blades of Chaosattack.
First Runic Brazier
The first one is an easy find. Even Atreus will point out that it’slocated just beside the chestitself. Light it, then continue your search for the other two.
The path to the right of the Nornir Chest is the way forward through the level, but none of the braziers are located in that direction.
Second Runic Brazier
Drop down to the leftand open the red chest. Afterward,face the waterwheelto spot a runic brazier. You are unable to light it, however, due to the water pouring directly onto it. Before stopping the water flow with your Leviathan Axe, turn to the left andgrapple across the gapto the far side. When you land on the far side, you’ll spot thesecond runic brazier. Go ahead and light it. You’ll need tolight this brazier firstsince solving the brazier at the water wheel will remove the grapple point.
Third Runic Brazier
Now that the second runic brazier has been lit, return across the gap to the waterwheel brazier. With your Leviathan Axe,stop the water flowon the trough, keeping the wheel from spinning. Now that water is no longer pouring onto the third runic brazier, equip your Blades of Chaos and light it up.
Once all three braziers are lit, the Nornir Chest will remain open – even if you recall your axe early, dousing the flame of the third runic brazier.
The Nornir Chest can now be opened, rewarding you with anIdunn Apple. Collect enough Idunn Apples toincrease your maximum Health.
