Why would you want to do this? Well, customization and variety, mostly. Once you find a piece of armor with stats and abilities that you like, you probably won’t switch to other pieces of armor. You certainly won’t have the resources to upgrade multiple sets of armor up to maximum level. So,using transmog allows you to mix up your lookwithout losing the stats and abilities you’ve worked so hard to get. So, let’s get into how you transmog your armor!
Reaching Maximum Level & Editing Appearance
The most important thing to note here is that the armor you’re wearing will need to be maximum level for you to change its appearance.If your armor isn’t max level, you won’t see the option to edit the armor’s appearance. This means that changing your armor’s appearance is most likely a long-term goal. Many players don’t max out a piece of armor until they’re done with the main game and have begun taking on optional, endgame content. So, if you haven’t finished the game, and you’re wondering when you’ll be able to take advantage of this option, just know that you probably still have a ways to go. Now, let’s say that you do have a piece of armor at max level.You should see the option to press square to edit the armor’s appearance.

Selecting A New Appearance
This is where you get to have a lot of fun with the fashion of the game. Go ahead and scroll through all the different armor options you have available. Remember that you might have other armors you can craft just to use their appearance.Also, since these items are for appearance only, you don’t have to worry about things like set bonuses.
So, if you want to mix and match pieces from different sets, you’re free to do so without losing any potential benefits.
