While Ghost of Tsushima players might be used to traveling and using the wind to navigate the game’s open world, in the sequel,Ghost of Yotei, players will be able to travel by music.
This won’t be any random music or whatever, as protagonist Atsu will be the one making the music with her shamisen – a three-stringed instrument that she carries with her.

The musical instrument serves as a means for Atsu to uncover secrets and discover content within the game’s world.
Ghost of Yotei’s Protagonist Will Be Able To Use Music To Find Items
Speaking in an interview withIGN, Ghost of Yotei’s creative director, Jason Connell, divulged a new tasty bit of information – something the studio hasn’t revealed until now.
Connell talks about Atsu’s shamisen, and how it acts like a tool comparable to Jin’s Traveler’s Attire in Ghost of Tsushima. In the first game, Jin can don different outfits with different perks, and the Traveler’s Attire was something the player switched to if they needed help finding certain artifacts in the game.

For Yotei, it’ll be the shamisen, though it’ll be a lot more dynamic than how the Traveler’s Attire was in the first game.
Connell shares, “I actually want to say something we haven’t talked about much, which is Atsu’s shamisen, which is the instrument that she carries, which is her mother’s shamisen. Just like in Ghost of Tsushima, we had features in that game, I think it was called the Traveler’s Attire in the last game… it would help you find content nearby, you could use it almost like a completion tool or a navigation tool to get through the world.”

Further explaining how it works, Connell confirmed that Atsu will be able to find and use different songs in order to guide you to different things in the game, “I love that the shamisen exists and there’s actually songs that you’re able to learn inside of the open world, and those songs can then guide you to certain types of things. So you want to collect some of these songs because they’ll guide you. The Song of Vanity might guide you to cosmetics, and we know how people love dressing up in the game and putting on cool outfits. So I’m really excited about showing more of that and for players to get an opportunity to use that,” Connell confirms.
Every Game Leaving PlayStation Plus This August
It’s your last chance to play these 14 games on PlayStation Plus before they leave.
The shamisen appears to be one of the new features players can expect in the sequel, although there’s much more to it than that.It has also been confirmed that in the game, Atsu will be able to do something that Tsushima players have always wanted to do:dual-wield weapons.

If you’re looking forward to the game, better get ready for a long one, as Sucker Punch has confirmed thatYotei’s map is the largest one they have ever developed, which is saying something.
Expect more information about Ghost of Yotei to surface as we approach the game’s October 2 release date.
