Ghost of Tsushimais the latest PlayStation first-party title to receive a PC port treatment and it is off to an awful start. Sony may have backed down on the PSN requirement forHelldivers 2, but the samurai video game is another victim of the publisher’s meddling.

Players were eager to play the game on PC and pre-ordered it on Steam, but was later removed in countries that are unsupported by the PlayStation Network. It is upsetting to see a game being locked away due to the restrictions that players have no control over.
Steam Is Refunding Players Who Pre-ordered Ghost of Tsushima
Sony was adamant about having PC players create or link an active PSN account with the purpose of moderation for online multiplayer games likeHelldivers 2which is understandable. However, this video game has a massive single-player story and players will be unable to access it because of region restrictions.
Creating a PlayStation Network account is a hassle since players will need to present various requirements that can be stolen once their accounts are linked. Fans of the game are already upset about the need to create a PSN account but some are unable to make one at all.

It seems likeSony has learned nothing from the previous controversywithHelldivers 2andGhost of Tsushima Director’s Cutis taking a massive hit because of it. Some are encouraging players to pirate the video game which is unethical.

March 5th May be the Biggest Day in Four Years for PlayStation’s Ghost of Tsushima Franchise, if Rumours are True
This could draw the attention of the publisher and force them to reconsider this requirement or expand the coverage of the network.Horizon Forbidden West Complete Editionwas ported to PC and wascracked after the first 30 seconds when it went live.
This is precisely why Sony will never go for a same-day release with their flagship console and PC withHelldivers 2being the exception. The PlayStation Network requirement will leave players in unsupported regions with no choice but to resort to illegal methods to gain access.

Sony Is Sabotaging Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on Steam
Initially, PlayStation was meant to implement anew overlay systemthat would allow PC players to cross-play with console players seamlessly. Among the benefits of this new feature would be trophies being synced with the PS5 trophy list and players can access their friends list and join a lobby.

Perhaps the publisher does not want to waste this feature in unsupported regions and abandoning them is a much more viable option. Removing the game from digital storefronts rather than coming up with a solution is a headscratcher for some.
Sony has shown no remorse and a total lack of empathy and consideration for players rather than coming up with a solution for these players. The company chose to abandon the players which is a reflection of the priorities of the gaming company.
