Destiny 2, the free-to-play first-person shooter, occasionally collaborates with pop culture brands and brings exclusive items to the game. It has now collaborated with the newly releasedGhostbusters: Frozen Empirefilm, bringing new cosmetics.

Players need to buy cosmetics for them to use in the game, and players fed up with the microtransaction aren’t okay with it. Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller shared that he has bought the crossover cosmetics bundle, drawing players’ criticism for supporting microtransactions.

Greg Miller took to X/Twitter and shared a post appreciating Sony for bringing theGhostbusterscrossover intoDestiny 2, saying that it shouldn’t stop doing this. He also suggested that the brand should collaborate withHelldivers 2and make a signature suit forMarvel’s Spider-Manwith Insomniac Games.
While Miller may have said this as a fan of the franchise, it has offended the fans, and he has been criticized for supporting microtransactions in games. Players questioned Miller for buying content for the game he does not play anymore.

To whomever at Sony made this deal to get Ghostbusters into Destiny:
Don’t stop.
I don’t even play this game anymore, but I bought this stuff.
I will do this for all games you crossover with.

As can be expected, fans weren’t happy with this supportive stance:
You get your “I wanna look cool for my streamer overlord” token for the day. Just a little bit of everything.

Let us know you don’t play anymore, we all think you’re really cool.
Then of course you brought up xdefiant!
Just a masterpiece.

Another player said that “blindly”buying cosmetics and supporting microtransactions is why“games are like they are today.”A player said that people like Miller are why the developers invest“more”in these things than they do in the story of the games. Players said that Sony owns both brands, and it is a“pure money grab”move from the company.

Players have said that things like this make games lose their identity, and all this should stay away fromHelldivers 2. Microtransactions are a big issue in video games, with almost every other title focusing on them, and players have made it clear that they will not entertain them, breaking immersion in their favorite games.
