Genshin Impactdeveloper miHoYo just held on February 4 the sneak peek livestream forGenshin Impact update Version 2.5, When The Sakura Bloom, revealing which 5-Star characters are getting banner reruns, new Events, enemies, and a new weekly boss. A new development update on the Chasm was shared as well, with first lore details.
Weâve translated below the main information onGenshin Impact Version 2.5. All the information is from the Japanese Twitter/Chinese Live stream, and the official English press release.
Genshin Impact Version 2.5release date trailer & New Character Story Quest preview
Genshin ImpactVersion 2.5 will release on July 26, 2025, and add Yae Miko as a new playable character. In Japanese Yae Miko is voiced byAyane Sakura. The English live stream also revealed her voice actor,check out our dedicated story for the details.
You can find below both the Japanese dubbed and the English dubbed versions of the 2.5 trailer, so you can watch the one that fits your preferences.
Genshin Impact 2.5will feature Raiden Shogun and Kokomi banner reruns
The second half of Version 2.5 will feature a Character Event Wish-2 with Raiden Shogun and Sangonomiya Kokomi both getting banner reruns. The reruns will start on July 02, 2025.
Yae Miko release date officially confirmed, first official gameplay
Yae Miko releases on February 16 as soon as the maintenance will be over. We have two official short gameplay videos for Yae as well, showing her Elemental Skill and Burst.
Genshin Impact 2.5: New 5-Star, 4-Star Catalyst Weapons revealed
First we have the Kagura’s Verity, a 5-Star Catalyst. This is Yae Miko’s “signature” weapon and will make her highly efficient if you’ve got the funds to pull it. This Weapon will be available on a Weapon banner at the same time as Yae Miko. The second weapon is the Oathsworn Eye, a new 4-Star Catalyst obtainable for free.
New weekly boss (Trounce Domain) gameplay trailer
On the stream, theGenshin Impactvoice actors, to avoid spoilers, stated we’ll have to wait and play the game to learn what this new weekly boss is called. Furthermore, this boss appears in the Raiden Shogun Character Story Quest Part 2, and we’ll need to clear it to unlock the Yae Miko Character Story Quest.
The voice actors also mentioned this new boss will be pretty difficult to beat. The English press release also promises “intimidating combat mechanics” are coming with this weekly boss.
Chasm update officially confirmed forGenshin Impact 2.6as per leaks
Similarly to how artwork for Inazuma was revealed before Version 2.0, miHoYo has revealed artwork for the Chasm and new lore. Check it out in the gallery below. The Chasm most notably features a giant mechanical snake called the Ruin Serpent. The voice actors on stream also reconfirmed the Chasm is where the battle between Rex Lapis and Azhdaha took place.

Genshin Impact 2.5main Event in Enkanomiya: Three Realms Gateway Offering
This is the big Event ofVersion 2.5, with Enkanomiya shrouded in darkness and new enemies appearing, called the Shadow Husks. When entering the area during the Event, players will constantly accumulate corrosive darkness.
However, a special gadget, the Bokuso Box, will help us resist the corrosive darkness, gain new abilities, and take down certain monsters. We’ll obtain the new 4-Star Catalyst Oathsworn Eye by clearing Three Realms Gateway Offering.
New Enemy type: Shadow Husks
There are different types of Shadow Husks, each using different weapons and elemental attacks. For now three types have been revealed and will be added in Version 2.5:
NewGenshin Impactshort anime promotional story trailer
This is the video from which the Ayato screenshot was first leaked. This is a short ad meant to promote the game and doesn’t actually reflect what could happen in-game. As there’s no reason why the Traveler and Kazuha would fight each other. In any case, this is a new ad similar to what a lot of other gacha games do in Japan. Don’t think about it too much, it was just made to look cool.
Divine Ingenuity -Genshin ImpactDomain maker
In this Event, players will create their own Domains and customize them with puzzles, traps and more. Some gameplay of Divine Ingenuity was shared too:
Drink A-Dreaming - Character Event
In this Event, players have to work at Angel’s Share, Diluc’s bar, to make coffee, tea, or juice fitting the characters' tastes. It feels pretty inspired by games likeVA-11 Hall-A. Check out the gameplay below:
Hyakunin Ikki - Battle Event
The Hyakunin Ikki battle arena Event is coming back in Version 2.5. This time too we’ll have to pick customized duos and fight against enemies in an arena. It’s a simple and straightforward Event.
