French video game siteJeux Videoshared and then quickly deleted a video of an early preview ofMetal Gear SolidDelta: Snake Eater.
Metal Gear Solid BTS Footage Shows Hideo Kojima Designing Maps And Camera Angles With Lego
Hideo Kojima’s love for Lego actually aided the development of Metal Gear Solid.
According to X userLordEmmerichF91, the site’s reviewer hadaround 90 minutes of game time, cutscenes included. Likely, theyonly played through the “Virtuous Mission” section of the game, the same one present inKonami’s marketing material.

As translated by the poster, the French reviewer said the game played closer toMetal Gear Solid 4than toMetal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Painwith “new details” in cutscenes. With the latter being a semi-open-world game, its gameplay might feel jarring inside the tighter environments of the olderMetal Gear Solidgames.
The video is nowhere to be found at the moment asJeux Video is notorious for its takedowns of people who repost anything the site leaks.

The original poster anticipates that we’ll getmore information next week, but that remains to be seen.
Konami Might Actually Stick The Landing
Since the remake’s announcement in May last year, many fans of theMetal Gearserieshavevoiced concerns over Konami remaking the classic without its creator,Hideo Kojima, at the helm. WithKonami’s past errors, it’s only normal to clutch your pearls when they try to remake a game as beloved asMetal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.
But while Kojima might not be at Konami anymore, his peers are still there.

Reportedly,manyKojima-era devsare working onMetal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, including the production manager onMetal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Noriaki Okamura.
Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 Is Just On The Wrong Side Of The Port/Remaster Divide
It’s not an entirely unloved port job, but it’s still a port job.
Since Kojima’s departure,Konami has given us aMetal Gear zombie gameandPachinko machines. So, placing Okamura as the producer forMetal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eateris possibly the wisest thing they could’ve done.

Okamura also worked as project and production support forMetal Gear Rising: RevengeanceandMetal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, respectively. Kojima also gave him special thanks in 1998’sMetal Gear Solid.
Without much direct gameplay footage, Konami’s other remake,Silent Hill 2, might be the best look we have at what we can expect. And ifthe horror game’s remake is anything to go off, we’re in for a treat.

Between accepting fan feedback, delivering a graphical overhaul, and enhancing gameplay mechanics without drastic changes, theSilent Hill 2remake seems to check every box for thefaithful update of a classic.
What little we’ve seen ofMetal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eateris very promising, and withconcurrent projects going smoothly, it’s hard to see Konami fumbling at this stage. Still, itisKonami. So, take all good information with a tablespoon of salt.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eaterhasno release date as of now but is planned for a 2024 release and isopen for preorders.
