Epic Gameshas confirmed that the new Unreal Editor forFortnite, commonly known as Fortnite Creative 2.0, will be released onWednesday, March 22nd at 12PM ET / 4PM GMT.
The new Unreal Editor was officially revealed last week, but that wasn’t the first time we’d heard about the possibility of a Fortnite Creative 2.0. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney had originally stated that the new editing tool for Fortnite would be released in 2022, but was then delayed to March of this year. Now a firm release date has officially been set and can be wish-listed on the Epic Games store.

The release of Fortnite’s new Unreal Editor doesn’t coincide with the launch of Chapter 4 Season 2, but it’s not far off. Earlier this month, Epic launched a brand new season for the hit battle royale title. The second season for the game’s fourth chapter has been dubbed as ‘Fortnite Mega’, and features a plethora of new content themed around a futuristic Tokyo.
But now the new season is about to get even more interesting with the release of UEFN, which many refer to as Fortnite Creative 2.0. The new mode will launch this Wednesday, exclusively for PC via the Epic Games Store. Although this isn’t a direct follow-up to Fortnite Creative, Epic has stated that UEFN “works side-by-side with Fortnite’s existing Creative toolset.”
This means content creators will be able to work hand-in-hand together across PC and consoles to develop and test new islands in real-time. The Unreal Editor will use many of Unreal Engine 5’s powerful tools and workflows, including custom asset import, modeling, materials and VFX, Sequencer and Control Rig.
Players looking to create some brand new Fortnite mini-games and maps will need to ensure that they actually have Fortnite downloaded and installed. There are also some recommended system requirements for the editor, which can be viewed below:
