The fans of FromSoftware’sElden Ringand Hideo Kojima’sDeath Strandingappear to have had one thing in common for quite some time. The former announced a new expansion for its Game of the Year-winning title on its first anniversary last year, and the Soulslike community has been waiting forShadow of the Erdtreesince it was revealed with no official release date in sight.

Death Stranding 2 could get more news sooner than Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree.

The latter announced the upcoming sequel to its 2019 action game two years ago at The Game Awards, and Kojima enthusiasts have been looking forward to any news aboutDeath Stranding 2since things have been quiet on the developer’s end.

Now, according to a credible leaker, it seems thatDeath Strandingfans could finally get to hear something substantial about the second instalment before theElden Ringcommunity sees anything of the Erdtree.

Kojima could be gearing up for more Death Stranding 2 updates at the upcoming PlayStation State of Play.

Elden Ring Fans Could’ve to Wait Longer Than Gamers Looking Forward to Death Stranding 2

The news aboutDeath Stranding 2getting more updates in the near future wassharedby a reputable leaker called billbil-kun on his X account. Since they write for a French publication called Dealabs Magazine, the user linked their article to it, which explained some new details about the upcoming sequel by Kojima.

The biggest highlight of the update was that the secondDeath Strandinginstalment may not simply add the number “2” in the title as it also seems to have its own subtitle.

Kojima is apparently choosing to call his highly anticipated sequelDeath Stranding 2: On the Beach, which seems to come out of nowhere, but it’s as unique as the creator himself, so it’s not entirely unexpected. According to Dealabs, the source of this latest update is “some recent discoveries,” but considering how credible the writer billbil-kun has been in the past with information, it could be the actual title of the game.

Of course, it doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue because the majority of the community has been calling itDS2for a while.

One fan responded to the title by saying that it “sounds so weird but I guess it is Kojima,” as gamers are aware of how unpredictable the director of the game can be. The originalDeath Strandingis often criticized for just being a glorified “walking simulator,” so upon hearing about the sequel’s full name, another user joked about how they’re “afraid it will be a swimming simulator.”

Naturally, there are some players who cannot get their hands on the second instalment soon enough, especially after finally getting to know more about it.

Death Stranding 2 May Be a Part of PlayStation’s Next State of Play

The leaker also claimed that more news aboutDeath Stranding 2could be heading towards fans “within the next 15 days,” while also stating that they are confident and “100% sure of” the new updates. That should be taken with a grain of salt, similar to most other leaks out there, but considering how it aligns perfectly with a more legit update from Kojima’s personal assistant, things may finally be set into motion soon.

The assistant goes by Ayako (Touchy!) on X, andoneof their posts from September 2023 has started making the rounds on the Internet.

The post has a picture of Hideo Kojima sitting in front of a computer screen and appearing to be editing a video. This has led to fans speculating that the director may finally showcaseDeath Stranding 2at the next PlayStation State of Play event. Only time will tell if these supposed updates turn out to be true, but for now, they seem pretty credible.
