With the new generation of consoles arriving, most of the developers try to deliver the best possible performance on PS5 and Xbox Series X by new updates and visual improvements.FIFA 21isone of the cross-gen titlesthat will soon receive an enhancement update on 9th-gen consoles, but those improvements won’t be applied to the PC version of the game.
Speaking toEurogamer, Aaron McHardy, the executive producer behindFIFA 21revealed that the PC version of the game will still remain at the same level as the 8th-gen versions since it’s the best for the whole community ofFIFAon PC. According to McHardy, they evaluate the community’s hardware before making the decision for the PC version of the game, and they have decided to keep its minimum requirements as low as possible. He said:
When we looked at what generation to put the PC game on, we looked at our fans and what capabilities they had with the hardware they have. And we have that information to understand what the power of the PCs out there in the world are. And when we looked at that, to run the gen five game, our min spec would have been at a spot that would have left a lot of people out in the cold not being able to play the game. So we made the choice to keep the PC version of the game on the gen four version ofFIFAso that we can open the doors and be inclusive to everybody who wants to playFIFA.
In fact, it does make sense. Just imagine how many PC players have already bought the game based on its initial system requirements and now a sudden bump in the visuals of the game would break down their experience, especially those who run the game at the edge of the minimum system requirements.
FIFA 21is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. It’s Ultimate and Champions editions are hit by a significant discount for the sake of Black Friday for a limited time.
