The movie is a dark comedy about a disillusioned young man. He captures and tortures a businessman he thinks is part of an alien invasion. This leads to a battle of wits involving the captor, his loyal girlfriend, the businessman, and a private detective.

The movie will start filming in the summer in the U.K. and New York after years of development. Stone is expected to have a supporting role. The actress and director have worked together three times and have two more projects coming up (including this one).

Unlike Lanthimos’ previous films, this flick will be an anthology. In a recent interview withThe Guardian, the 50-year-old filmmaker shared some important information about the film. He said:

“It’s a contemporary film, set in the US – three different stories, with four or five actors who play one part in each story, so they all play three different parts. It was almost like making three films, really.”
The Arizona native won’t be the only familiar face from Lanthimos’ films in the ensemble.Willem Dafoeand Margaret Qualley, who were inPoor Thingswith Stone, are also part of the cast.Joe Alwyn, known for his role inThe Favourite,will reunite with the director as well.

Kinds of Kindness’release date hasn’t been announced yet. But since filming finished a year ago, it’s highly probable it will come out by the end of 2024 or early 2025.
