Elemental weapon damage is an important aspect that often gets overlooked by players who are new toElden Ring. Elemental damage comes in four different variants, with Magic being one of the most powerful of the bunch. Magic damage is pretty common in Elden Ring and while you’re able to imbue most weapons with it using things likeAshes of Waror Whetblades, you don’t necessarily need to bother. That’s because there are quite a few powerfulweapons in the game that inflict Magic damagenatively.
Sure, it’s cool running around with oversizedGreatswordsorColossal Weapons, but you can often dish out more punishment with a simple-looking sword or dagger provided it’s imbued with elemental damage. To keep things interesting, we’ve excludedGlintstone Staffsfrom this list, but everything else is fair game. We’re ranking these weapons based on their overall effectiveness rather than their raw magical damage output. With that in mind, join us as we take a look at thebest Magic damage weapons in Elden Ring.

15Royal Greatsword
Great Magical Damage Colossal Sword
Attack Type
Attack Power
Guarded Damage Negation
Colossal Sword
Wolf’s Assault
TheRoyal Greatswordis a Colossal Sword capable of dealing a huge amount of Magical damage. Originally wielded byBlaidd, the swordinflicts Frost damageand build-up thanks to its unique weapon art,Wofl’s Assault. It’s a bit difficult to get the most out of this skill due to its long animation, but you can dish out a fair amount of punishment with it if you manage to pull it off.
Weapon art aside, the Royal Greatsword is a good, but overall not amazing weapon. Most notably, its requirements are arguably too high for what it offers. Its biggest selling point, and the main reason why it’s on this list, is itshigh Magic damage. The weapon will make short work of armored enemies, but we wouldn’t necessarily recommend using it against bosses. There are better weapons on this list for taking downElden Ring’s most challenging foes.

14Sword Of St. Trina
Inflicts Sleep Build Up But Has Low Magical Damage
Straight Sword
Standard/Pierce
Mists of Slumber
TheSword of St. Trinadeals a relatively small amount of Magic damage compared to other weapons on this list, but you shouldn’t overlook it just because of that. This weapon comes with a unique passive effect that enables it toput enemies to sleep. The effect won’t happen instantaneously, but you only need to hit your target a few times for it to trigger.
Elden Ring: Best PVP Builds
Elden Ring offers a wide variety of powerful combos for PVP. Try out these builds to flesh out your Tarnished for the Colosseum or invasions.
The Sword of St. Trina is a fantastic weapon to use both in PvE and PvP. you may pair it with the Rotten Crystal Sword,Reduvia, or another weapon that inflicts a different type of buildup and is twice as annoying to your opponents. The short range and underwhelming Intelligence scaling prevent the Sword of St. Trina from ranking higher up on our list, but make sure you don’t sleep on the Sword of St. Trina because it’s still aremarkable weapon.

13Wing Of Astel
Powerful Weapon Art But Fairly Low Damage
Curved Sword
TheWing of Astelis a fancyCurved Swordthat immediately stands out thanks to its unique shape and color. In addition to being pretty to look at, this wing-shaped blade is also quite deadly thanks to its weapon art,Nebula. Upon use, this Skill sends forth multiple magic projectiles that explode after a short delay, dealing agood amount of damagein the process. Nebula’s range isn’t particularly impressive, but its ability to make short work of small groups of enemies should not be underestimated.
In terms of raw DPS, the Wing of Astel can’t really hold a candle to some of the other weapons on this list, but the sword has a couple of other noteworthy abilities besides Nebula. For one, charging the strong attack unleashes a special spinning move thatdeals Magical damage and costs no FP. The weapon also has a hidden passive effect that allows it todeal +20% bonus damage to Gravity-typeenemies such as Onyx Lords or bosses like the titular Astel, Naturalborn of the Void.

12Ruins Greatsword
Devastating But Slow And Cumbersome Weapon
Wave of Destruction
TheRuins Greatswordis a monstrous weapon that’s literally made out of stone. This meteorite-infused Colossal Sword inflicts a crazy amount of damage, but also requires a crazy amount of Strength to wield effectively. Despite requiring some Intelligence to use, the Ruins Greatsword is clearlydesigned for Strength buildsand only inflicts a small amount of Magical damage with each swing. Still, even a small amount of magical damage can make a big difference against certain types of enemies.
Wave of Destruction, the weapon’s unique Skill, is powerful enough toone-shot weak opponents and seriously damage strong ones. We wouldn’t recommend using it in PvP since it’s hard to hit fast-moving targets with it, but you’ll definitely get a ton of mileage out of it in PvE. The same can also be said about the charged heavy attack, which unleashes aburst of Gravity magic in a conein front of the player that Staggers enemies.

11Marais Executioner’s Sword
Fantastic Sword Provided You Don’t Mind Speccing Into Arcane
Greatsword
Eochaid’s Dancing Blade
Marais Executioner’s Swordis one of the bestArcane scaling weapons in Elden Ring. This is one of those rare weapons thatinflict Magical damage without requiring any Intelligenceto wield. The sword’s Magic damage is surprisingly solid, even surpassing many weapons that do have Intelligence scaling, such as the Ruins Greatsword or the Sword of St. Trina. Granted, it does require a fair amount of Arcane to wield, which is a fairly niche stat.
Similar to a lot of the other weapons on this list, Marais Executioner’s Sword relies heavily on itsspecial Skill to get the job done. The weapon art is identical to the one you’ll find on the Regalia of Eochaid, the one-handed version of this sword, but isquite a bit more powerful. Use this skill to fling the weapon at an enemy and watch as they squirm in place helplessly while the Marais Executioner’s Sword turns them into a kebab.
10Glintstone Kris
High Crit Rate Dagger With A Great Ranged Skill
Slash/Pierce
Glintstone Dart
TheGlintstone Krisis arguably the best Dagger you can acquire in Elden Ring. This weapon has ahigh Critical rate of 110, along with a solid scaling of C in both Dexterity and Intelligence. Though the damage of this weapon isn’t exactly the best, and the range is also pretty poor for base attacks, the main redeeming quality of the Glintstone Kris is its Skill.
Glintstone Dartallows players tofire a projectilewhich does decent damage when charged. This projectile adds quite a bit of range, and can easily be spammed multiple times due to the low-FP cost. While the projectile can be chained together with a follow-up attack, just using the projectile alone can allow you torack up some decent Magic damagewithout even needing to be close to your opponent.
9Clayman’s Harpoon
Weapon That Can Be Infused With An Ash Of War
Impaling Thrust
TheClayman’s Harpoonis a magical Spear that is one of the very few weapons that can beinfused with an Ash Of War. As this weapon mainly scales on Intelligence, utilizing an Intelligence infusion can boost your Intelligence scaling further, thus allowing the Clayman’s Harpoon todish out even more damagethan it already does - especially when paired with Ash Of Wars like Ice Spear or Glintblade Phalanx.
The base damage of the Clayman’s Harpoon is pretty decent to boot, and the weapon itself has a fairly solid moveset. Though the default Skill this weapon possesses is not all too great, the ability to change it for other magical imbuments gives you the potential toboost your Magic damage greatly. This weapon also has a low Weight, making itideal for lighter builds.
Remarkably Strong Magical Katana
Transient Moonlight
Moonveilis easily one of thestrongest katanas in Elden Ringand can hold its own against most other weapons in the game. This weapon scales very well with Intelligence, to the point where it inflicts more Magical damage and Physical damage. As a bonus,Moonveilalso comes with a passive that causesBlood Loss buildup, and it doesn’t require any Arcane to wield. Quite a unique weapon indeed.
Elden Ring: How To Make The Best Moonveil Build
Moonveil is one of the deadliest weapons in Elden Ring, and here’s its best build to maximize the damage and its powerful magic.
Moonveil’s weapon art,Transient Moonlight, needs very little introduction at this point. The nerfs it received since launch did little to make this skill less overpowered in PvP. The same goes for PvE. Transient Moonlightincreases the range of the katanawhile also allowing it to attack faster. The damage isn’t tremendous, but it doesn’t have to be, since you can attack multiple times with it in quick succession. Provided you have a good amount of FP at your disposal, of course.
7Starscourge Greatsword
One Of The Best Paired Weapons In The Game
Starcaller Cry
TheStarscourge Greatswordis the iconic Colossal Weapon wielded byGeneral Radahn.Or should we say, weapons. When you exchange the Remembrance you get from this boss for the weapon you get an extra copy of it for free. Paired weapons are pretty rare in Elden Ring, especially ones as powerful as these. Granted, you do need a fair amount of Strength to wield them effectively, but the investment is well worth it considering theridiculous amount of damageyou can inflict with them.
The Starscourge Greatsword has a two-phase weapon art that pulls enemies in upon the initial cast before slamming the swords into the ground when cast again. The first castimbues the swords with Gravity energywhile the second one causes a sizable explosion. As a bonus, the Starscourge Greatsword alsodeals bonus damage to Gravity-typeenemies similar to the Wing of Astel, although in this case, the bonus is +30%.
6Fallingstar Beast Jaw
Impressive Range & Stun-lock Potential
Colossal Weapon
Strike/Pierce
Gravity Bolt
TheFallingstar Beast Jawis another Colossal Weapon that hits like a truck and can be used to unleash the power of Gravity magic. The weapon is comparable to the Starscourge Greatsword in terms of damage output, both Physical and Magical, but its unique skill is arguably better in most situations because it’s a range attack. The Fallingstar Beast Jaw is also the longest Colossal Weapon in the game and the only one thatinflicts Piercing damage.
The weapon’s unique skill,Gravity Bolt, is arguably pretty busted. The attack has a remarkably long range, and caneasily Stagger most opponentsin one or two casts, including some bosses, along with only costing 13 FP. Combine it with the Stonebarb Cracked Tear and spam it endlessly to stun-lock even the most resilient opponents - even after the weapon’s Poise damage has been heavily nerfed a couple of patches ago.
