Whoever thought adding a task force of comedic idiots inDragon Ball DAIMAwas a good idea couldn’t have been more wrong. The moment they showed up, I clocked out. Their entry was ridiculous and so was their goofy behavior excluding the fact that they bought chocolates for the Majin brothers.

I never thought I’d find myself relating to King Gomah but his face was the same as mine when that squad of tomfoolery arrived. That deadpanned expression of ‘I am so done with my life,’ wasn’t something I knew I needed so desperately but who am I to complain?
The series is finally turning to face the storm, which is its main story. Not only are all the Dragon Balls in someone or the other’s possession but now that the barriers of the Demon Realm are broken, there is a likely chance that all the allies Goku made in the previous episode come to lend a hand. Then there is also a chance that I am just reading too much into things.

Dragon Ball DAIMA doesn’t have enough time
I do understand that adding an eccentric rival team that likes to make certain poses is a must forDragon Ball, but it doesn’t necessarily make their inclusion any better. The entire episode was good, which is a lot saying just how many complaints I had with their previous filler. This one actually contributed to the overall story and was a significant addition. Moreover, it opened up a door I hadn’t considered earlier.
Instead of the episode being divided into two halves like it usually is, there was a maintained flow that worked for both sides of the story. The first side introduced the Gendarmerie Force and also showed how impatient Gomah was getting, unable to handle the ridiculousness of his own palace folk. With how visually stunning the entire series has been so far, I was surprised to see them going into the route of a stereotypical hellscape for the First Demon World. Not only was the sky an ominous red but even the sun made it far too hot for everyone there.

“That’s literally all the fandom wants”: We Dare ‘Dragon Ball DAIMA’ to Give Vegeta the Ending He Truly Deserves
I do need a moment to point out just how fond of the Vegeta-Bulma crumbs I am. It wasn’t even a question of him carrying her and even when he did so, he just had to pick her up bridal-style. Their chemistry in this anime is absolutely on point, to such an extent that if there were ever a possibility to get a spin-off focusing only on the couple, I’d be first to jump in line.
What worries me is with the pace this series has been going, 20 episodes is nowhere near enough to complete the story. It is highly likely that a bunch of plotholes get left behind lest they plan for a second season. However, that is also unlikely because of the anime’s connection toDragon Ball Super. One can only wish they didn’t mess the story up after giving this kind of a strong episode.

Neva – the next king of the Demon Realm
It has been set in stone that Neva is no ordinary character inDragon Ball DAIMA.From the moment he was introduced, he wasn’t just an old Namekian being whose skills were being utilized until his last breath. He created the Tamagami and the Dragon Balls of the Demon Realm. Now it was revealed that he was also the creator of the barrier between the demon worlds. His intentions weren’t harmful either, he simply wanted to protect the worlds for each other and the outside realms.
It doesn’t make much sense for him to be a simple exiled Namekian. Piccolo’s fascination upon seeing just how powerful Neva is mirrors our own curiosity. With a single spell, he could remove the barriers and while he helped turn Goku, Vegeta, and the rest into children, he is now also helping them turn back. It makes me wonder if his goals are simply that of assistance or something greater. What is confirmed is how well he knows the realm and how, unlike Gomah, he could be the rightful Demon King.

‘Dragon Ball DAIMA’ is Using Its Best Element to Make the Story Worse Than It Already Is
He is much better suited to take the throne. His powers blend well with the realm and his wishful thinking for the people makes him the ideal replacement for King Gomah who just hired an incompetent band of fighters to take on some of the strongest foes he’s ever encountered. Gomah clearly is way in over his head, underestimating his opponents despite how many times they proved him wrong.
If the anime is willing to maintain this sort of storytelling, it could easily be a great addition to the franchise. However, it doesn’t have nearly as many episodes left as it needs to wrap things up. This could come back to haunt the anime that is supposed to set a background forSuper.IfDAIMAfails this task, then this well-crafted story would be for nothing.
