Hollow Knight: Silksongislaunching in two weeks, yet fans shouldn’t expect any reviews before launch, as Team Cherry may not be sending out early codes to sites and influencers.

Traditionally, video game developers and publishers send out codes to outlets ahead of time, so they can play it and have their reviews done before the game comes out. When that doesn’t happen, it’s considered a really bad sign for the state of the game, especially when the knowledge becomes public.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will bereleased on August 23, 2025. This means Team Cherry has plenty of time to send out review codes, but apparently, that won’t be the case. Jason Schreier of Bloomberg has claimed on BlueSky that no codes will be given, as the developers don’t want reviewers to have access to the game before Kickstarter backers.

Considering that Hollow Knight: Silksong has been indevelopment for seven years, it’s safe to say that the developers probably have all their ducks in a row. If they haven’t by now, then all that time may as well have been wasted.

It’s fine to want everyone to have equal access to the game is fair for a Kickstarter project, though having positive review scores out of the game would have brought more eyes to the game ahead of launch. As such, fans shouldn’t expect reviews until around September 7 or 8 at the earliest.

The Hollow Knight: Silksong fanbase has been riled up into a fervour by thenews of the impending release. Even a slew of 1/10 reviews wouldn’t slow them down, as people would be tuning in to see how bad the game is, especially after having waited for it for so long.
