Square Enix revealed today thatDissidia Final Fantasy NTwill be getting a free to play version. TitledDissidia Final Fantasy NT Free Edition, this version will be launching on PlayStation 4 and Steam on March 12. You can check the game’s Steam pagehere.

Square Enix also confirmed that the full game, currently only available on PS4, and on arcade only in Japan, will be coming to Steam as well the same day.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Free Editionwill allow you to try out the game free of charge and pick between a certain selection of characters, rotating every week. Additional characters and weapons will be available for purchase individually. Players on theFree Editionwill be able to participate in online matches against players on the full version of the game as well.

Together with theFree Edition,Dissidia Final Fantasy NTon Steam will be getting aStandard Editioncontaining 28 characters and access to various game modes including the story mode. And aDeluxe Editionwhich includes theStandard Editionand a Season Pass which contains the six new DLC characters along with their weapons and costumes.

It’s still unclear if players on the Steam version will be able to battle with players on the PS4 version.

An active PlayStation Plus subscription is required to play the PS4 version ofDissidia Final Fantasy NT Free Edition.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NTis the latest episode of theDissidia Final Fantasyseries, 3D action games whereFinal Fantasycharacters battle each other in arenas. The game first released in Japanese arcades in 2015, and was later ported to PS4 in 2018. NewFinal Fantasycharacters are regularly added to the game since its release via DLC, with the latest additions beingLightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII’s Snow Villiers.Final Fantasy X’s Yuna,and bestFinal FantasyMMOFinal Fantasy XI’s Kam’lanaut.Usually, characters and updates are made to the arcade version first and then added to the console port slightly later.
