In her 2021 memoir,The Beauty of Living Twice, Stone talked about the incident, writing (viaVanity Fair):

“I had a producer bring me to his office, where he had malted milk balls in a little milk-carton-type container under his arm with the spout open. He walked back and forth in his office with the balls falling out of the spout and rolling all over the wood floor as he explained to me why I should fuck my costar so that we could have onscreen chemistry. Why, in his day, he made love to Ava Gardner onscreen and it was so sensational! Now just the creepy thought of him in the same room with Ava Gardner gave me pause. Then I realized that she also had to put up with him and pretend that he was in any way interesting.”

In 1969, it was under his discretion, that Paramount bought the rights to Mario Puzo’s novel,The Godfather, which was later turned into a trilogy by Francis Ford Coppola, and to date remains one of the most successful films under Paramount.
Puzo, who wrote the novel, wanted Marlon Brando to play Michael Corleone, and Evans just didn’t thinkAl Pacinowas the right man for the job. But Coppola, who directed the movie, had pictured theInsomniaactor in the lead role and could not get himself to replace Pacino with anyone else. And thus came the immaculate portrayal ofAl Pacinoas the man who changed how fans viewed mob movies until then. Well, keeping to Puzo’s wishes, even Brando got to play a major role in the first movie as Don Vito Corleone.
