Devolver Digital are masters of their craft. The indie publisher, whose recent titles includeDisc RoomandExit the Gungeon, are known for their satirical and often bloody press conferences. While not specifically a press conference, fans watching The Game Awards this Thursday should still expect some carnage, as the publishers, and the infamous Nina Struthers, will be showing up to present the “Devolver Digital 2021 Game of the Year Award.“The award, which “is strictly for announced games releasing in 2021” will see five of Devolver’s titles battle it out head to head for the honour. The five games nominated for the Devolver Digital 2021 Game of the Year Award areShadow Warrior 3,Olija, Card Shark,Weird WestandBoomerang X.
The special award is due to be presented during The Game Awards pre-show, which kicks off half an hour before the main event. Although it’s not the main showcase, the pre-show is certainly shaping up to be something special. Alongside the Devolver Digital award presentation, Geoff Keighley has confirmed there will bea total of five world premieresin the pre-show alone.
The Devolver Digital 2021 Game of the Year Award won’t be the publisher’s only showing at The Game Awards either. One of this year’s biggest hits,Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, which was developed by Mediatonic and published by Devolver Digital, will begiving fans their first full look at the third seasonof the battle royale.
As well as Devolver Digital’s special appearance, there is a huge array of celebrity presenters lined up for the show. That list includes bothGal Gadot and Brie Larson,Swedish Chef fromÂThe Muppets, gamingâs own Troy Baker, sportscaster Stephen A. Smith and most importantly,Reggie Fils-Aime.
