Some of these challenges are straight-forward, while others are a bit more complicated or time-consuming. Here’s everything you’ll need to know about week 9’s seasonal challenges for Season of Plunder.
Expert Expedition III
InExpedition, gather treasure and defeat Ruffians.
Rewards: Repute, Challenger XP+
This challenge can entirely be completed by playing through theseasonal Expedition mission(as the name implies). Gathering treasure is the easiest part—you just need to pick up the treasure engrams as they spawn and deposit (read: throw) them into the Treasure Hauler.
TheRuffianscan be a bit more difficult since they can be very particular when they spawn. You’ll basically need to be a little less efficient when gathering treasure, as Riffians tend tospawn after about 3 minutesof a new phase starting. An extra Ruffian has a chance to spawn after that, but it’s less consistent.

Defeat targets with Linear Fusion Rifles and defeat slowed combatants.
Defeating combatants in Ketchcrash and defeating Guardians will award bonus progress.

Rewards: Challenger XP+
This challenge is fairly straight-forward. Equip your favoriteLinear Fusion Rifleand defeat enemies with it, and also defeat slowed combatants. Either equip yourStasis subclassor your favorite Stasis weapon and get to slowing and slaying.

Cold Lightning
In Gambit, defeat targets with Arc or Stasis effects. Bonus progress for defeating Guardians.
Rewards: Challenger XP++, Bright Dust
Another Gambit-related challenge for the season, you’ll want to equip yourArc or Stasis subclassbefore queuing up. You’ll receive bonus progress for slaying Guardians, so attempt to invade the enemy team as much as possible to get the chance to earn some Guardian kills. Unless you’re a god at the PVP side of Destiny 2, you might benefit from bringing along anArc or Stasis power weaponto have a better chance at slaying the enemy team’s Guardians.
Arc Vanguard
Defeat combatants with Arc or Stasis effects in Vanguard playlists.
Similar to the above challenge for Gambit, you’ll want to equip your Arc or Stasis subclasses and run missions from theVanguardplaylists. Defeating combatants withArc or Stasiseffects will complete this challenge in no time, rewarding some nice Bright Dust and bonus XP. Make sure to equip your favorite Arc or Stasis weapons to contribute to progress as well, and you’ll complete this seasonal challenge in no time.

Seeker’s Cache III
Summon First Mates in Expedition and Ketchcrash.
Also, decipher the Large Treasure Beacon, available from the Star Chart in the H.E.L.M.

Rewards: Repute, Challenger XP++
This challenge can be a little more involved than usual. Whenever you run one of the seasonal activities – Expedition or Ketchcrash – make sure to summon your First Mate at every opportunity. You need to do it a total of 15 times, but that doesn’t mean you need to summon them during 15 separate encounters; you’re able to often re-summon your First Mate multiple times during the same encounter since they eventually despawn (or are killed), so keep an eye on the summoning flag on each battlefield.
The other portion of this challenge has to do with acquiring the Large Treasure Beacon from the Star Chart and completing the Cryptic Quatrains III mission. In order to acquire the Large Treasure Beacon, you will first need to reach rank 16 in the Star Chart, accessed via the H.E.L.M. Once you acquire the Large Treasure Beacon, you will begin the Cryptic Quatrains III mission, which will have you solving a series of riddles. Some of these can be pretty tricky, so you might benefit from checking out aCryptic Quatrains III Guide. The exotic sparrow reward is worth it.

Armory-Wide Calibration
Calibrate Kinetic, Energy, and Power weapons. Bonus progress against Champions.
Rewards: Challenger XP+++, Bright Dust
A simple enough challenge, and one which you should be able to complete fairly painlessly. Slay enemies with Kinetic, Energy, and Power weapons. You will gain bonus progress against Champions, so consider running someNightfall StrikesorMaster Ketchcrashactivities to speed up completion.
If you have a Stasis weapon equipped in your Kinetic slot, it will not contribute toward the Kinetic weapon progress, so make sure you have a weapon equipped in the Kinetic slot that has no elemental affiliation.
Trial By Firing Squad
Win multiple rounds in the Trials of Osiris.
Rewards: Trials of Osiris Weapon, Challenger XP+++, Bright Dust
WhileTrials of Osiriscan feel inaccessible to many, this challenge might be business as usual for some players out there. Win 20 rounds of Trials of Osiris will net you some major XP, a Trials of Osiris Weapon, and some much-appreciated Bright Dust.
