Taylor Sheridan is arguably the greatest modern storyteller when it comes to Westerns, who breathed new life into the genre on both big and small screens over the last decade. While the revered writer has occasionally strayed away from the genre to delve into other projects likethe Mayor of Kingstown, Westerns have completely dominated his filmography since his rise to prominence.

But instead of exploring new grounds afterYellowstone, which is set to end later this year, the writer is sticking to this format with his new project, starring Jon Hamm.
Taylor Sheridan Continues His Tales of Western WithLandman
Starring a rich cast, which involves Jon Hamm, Billy Bob Thornton, and Demi Moore,Landmanis based on the acclaimed 11-part podcastBoomtown, which will be a“modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs”. Further delving intoTaylor Sheridan‘s upcoming outing, Hammshared:
It’s a story very well told, and I think it’s an interesting take on what happens when it comes to how we get the stuff that makes our cars and our lives and our planes and everything in our modern world go.

But while it’s safe to say Sheridan will once again hit out of the park with the Hamm-led show, withLandman, the writer continues to restrict himself in a similar playfield. Considering he’s one of the best in the business, who once reinvented the genre with acclaimed releases likeSicarioandHell or High Water, most would agree his talent can be used in other areas.
Not Having the “Undisputed Alpha” Kevin Costner on Yellowstone’s Set Has Made Cast Members Realize Taylor Sheridan’s “Huge Mistake” (Report)
Even though Landman could shape out to be the next big thing at Paramount, from the trailer, it doesn’t seem Sheridan is straying away much further from his roots inYellowstone. As for Hamm, who has been excelling on the small screen since headliningMad Menin the late 2000s, the actor is open to reprising the role in the future.
Jon Hamm Hasn’t Shut down the Idea of aMad MenReunion With Matthew Weiner
Despite being initiallypassed onby the higher-ups at HBO, Mathew Weiner’sMad Meneventually landed at AMC and became one of the most renowned shows on the network. Moreover, the show also succeeded in delivering a satisfying conclusion, which tied up all loose ends. But this isn’t to say a continuation to the AMC drama is out of the cards, asJon Hammhas showcased interest inreturningto the role if Weiner is involved.
It’s been a long time. It’s almost 20 years since Mad Men started, which is crazy, Which means I’m getting older too… “[Matthew Weiner] have to be on board with any kind of reunion… I’ve been around this business long enough to never say never. So, I will never say never. But we’ll see

While time will tell if we’ll ever see Hamm return to the shoes of Don Draper, one will hope that Sheridan starts exploring new grounds instead of limiting himself to one specific genre.
