The Ridley Scott-directed Black Hawk Down movie originally came out in 2001 and was a theatrical retelling of the devastating Battle of Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993. The film received high praise and was nominated for multiple Academy Awards in its release year.
Delta Force Black Hawk Down Release Date & Details
The developers announced the date via a short teaser video showing Black Hawks going down.
Fans of the film will be excited to learn that theDelta Force: Black Hawk Down campaign that comes out later this week is heavily inspired specifically by Scott’s film adaptation of real-world events. In fact, theteam even received authorization to utilize footage from Scott’s movie, per IGN, though we’ve yet to see if any footage will actually materialize in the game or if it was only used for inspiration.

I was able to preview Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, andmy impressions of the game were positive. Characters from the movie being included in the game was one such cool feature showcased.
Familiar Faces Are In The Game
Some fan favorites from the movie are present in Black Hawk Down, though the true extent of the involvement of these features is yet to be seen. In my hands-on preview, I encountered three characters that I knew from the film.
These include Sergeant Hoot, Sergeant Struecker, and Lieutenant McKnight. While avoiding all spoilers about how these characters make their way into the game itself, I will say that having these touchstones from the film present in the campaign made the connection to Scott’s adaptation all the more apparent.

The character model for Sergeant Hoot looks like it’s influenced by Eric Bana, the actual actor from the movie, which further points to Team Jade using the film as its main source of inspiration.
The Extent Of Movie Tie-In Is Still Unknown
The preview event for Black Hawk Down only featured portions of three out of seven levels, so we’ll all get to find out together just how far the comparisons and inclusions from the 2001 film will ultimately go once the campaign releases.
Regardless, it’s fun to see the movie represented so directly in this title, and I’m left curious to learn more about the connections that the game is making to the film.
