Teamwork is crucial for mission success as each class has its ownunique abilitiesthat encourage cooperation. Each class has a job they must do, and this guide will go over theEngineerclass and its responsibilities on the team.

Synergies With Other Classes
Driller and Engineer
The Engineer’s default loadout is the"Warthog" Auto 210shotgun and theDeepcore 40mm PGLgrenade launcher. The shotgun has a deceptive amount of range and is devastating up close. The grenade launcher is exactly that and is helpful for blowing the armor off Praetorians or Shellbacks, but lacks the damage to be great for single target devastation and only excels at killing clumped-up swarms of smaller threats. A huge part of the Engineer’s damage output is the sentry turrets and the supportive fire they provide so having them up during swarms is very important.

The default grenade is theL.U.R.E.which creates a hologram that enemies will attack until it breaks releasing a small electrical burst. Additionally, there is thePlasma Bursterwhich explodes four times where thrown, andProximity Mineswhich can cover the flank or thin waves out before they get close. TheL.U.R.E.are thestrongestandcombo the bestwith the tools at the Engineers' disposal.
Tools Of The Trade
The Engineer’s unlockable secondary weapons are powerhouse mining tools turned murder lasers. They both excel at removing large clusters of enemies or removing the armor from the larger bugs.
Using platforms to get through goo without slowdown

The Engineer hassentry turretsthat lay down supportive fire once built. Additionally, there is the option to haveone heavy LMG turretortwo regular turrets. Having one is easier to learn and get the hang of but two are much stronger for chewing through swarms.
ThePlatform Gunis one of the most useful gadgets in the game as its flexibility is limitless. Its ability to make the terrain navigatable is insanely helpful for making the caves survivable. The platform’s uses are only limited by the imagination and the application can be game-changing when used correctly.

The Platform Guns Uses
Role On The Team
The Engineer is asupportive utilityclass that requiresforwardplanningandstrategyto be played optimally. Most of the Engineer’s abilities can combo together to maximize kills with devastating combos. But even when there are no bugs around the Engineer has jobs to do. The turret’s supportive fire helps keep an area clear of bugs while doing objectives. The platform gun can make the map easier to navigate. The platform gun is versatile in its uses and is one of the most flexible gadgets of all the classes. Most of the Engineer’s non-combat roles involve thePlatform Gunand makingmaterials mineable, or theterrain manageable.
Role In Combat
The Engineer is devastating up close but requires time to set ahead of time. The turrets DPS keep the waves at bay and thin out swarms without much effort. With a bit of set-up, an Engineer can create a kill zone with thesentry turretsandL.U.R.E. Grenadesto keep bugs in place, then disintegrate the rest with theShard DiffractororBreach Cutter. Combining tools for maximum effect in combat can singlehandedly keep swarms held back.
The created platforms make great spots to set up turrets away from danger. During waves stay near the turrets to keep them full of ammo unless something else requires attention. Keeping them fully operational is essential during big waves of enemies. Platforms provide mobility out of thin air which can help with most bad situations. Getting caught without turrets built is risky for Engineers which makes preparing during downtime even more important.
