As you would expect from any Hideo Kojima game, the main story ofDeath Stranding 2: On the Beachis pretty weird (in a good way) and full of interestinglybizarre bosses– and the first one is hard to forget, right? Especially when it is a big head trying to kill you.

The Giant BT is the first major boss battle of the game, responsible for giving a nice and quite warm welcome to Sam’s new journey. If you are looking for any tips to kick his but in the best possible way, you have come to the right place.

How to Prepare for the Giant BT

In Episode 1, when Sam is finally talking with Deadman shortlyafter connectingthe Former Geophysics Research Lab to the chiral network, their conversation is abruptly interrupted by a warning: a giant BT has appeared around the station.

It is time to turn Sam’s combat mode on, so interact with the lab’s terminal to accept the mission and get ready for the battle while planning your loadout.

Leave any other items behind, such as ladders and PCCs, since their weight can slow you down in the middle of the battle.

This will be more than enough for this battle. Now step out of the lab to find out what you are about to face.

Attack & Weakness Breakdown

Sam’s first foe is a BT in the form of a big head totally covered in tar. Luckily for us, he has only one phase, constantly slamming his tendrils on the floor, but he also presents two different attacks.

His first attack is quite simple, where he keeps throwing cars, rocks, or any heavy objects at Sam, while the second one consists of sucking everything that surrounds him – including our protagonist.

His weakness is the crack in his head, which glows red when opened.

How to Beat the Giant BT

The Giant BT may be ugly and quite scary in appearance, but our guide has got you covered.

As soon as the fight starts, keep a safe distance from the EP and immediately equip your Assault Rifle. Every time his head opens and glows red, it is time to shoot him – so be ready every time to cause the greatest amount of damage in a few seconds.

Your position is also important, so keep Sam always moving to avoid his tendrils slamming on the floor. When he starts throwing heavy objects, dodge (aim + push “X”) to avoid getting hit.

For the second attack, where the Big Head BT starts sucking everything, it is time to shoot with everything you got – Assault Rifle and Blood Grenades – on his red crack to make him stop. If Sam stumbles, hold L2+R2 to keep his balance and get as far away from the boss as you can.

Repeat until he is defeated. Three Assault Rifles are enough to beat him, but if you run out of ammo, keep your distance and look for shadowy figures from other players that emerge from the tar and offer you some equipment.

Battle Rewards

Unfortunately, you do not get much more than a pat on the back after the battle.

What youcanearn is up to 1,800 likes by getting Rank S (and I believe you did, since you used our guide) after completing the mission, along with two whole points in “Combat” and a little bit in “Porter” and “Servicemanship” onSam’s porter grade. Oh, you can also collect a bunch of chiral crystals from the monster’s death scene.

Your greatest reward is to keep playing the main story and witness an emotional scene between Sam and Deadman shortly after.
