TheDead RisingDeluxe Remasterpromises to bring everything the 2006 original had but better, alongside the tasteful removal of a controversial and inappropriate feature,as the remaster removes the ‘erotica’ category from photo mode.
Dead Rising Fans Frustrated Over Digital-Only Deluxe Remaster But Physical Release Is On The Way
Some zombie slaying fans aren’t too happy about Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster’s digital-only release but there’s no need to worry.
After fans were disappointed bydetails regarding the canceledDead Rising5 leaking online, this remaster aims to be a salve to the wound the unfortunate cancelation caused, but this change has been met with a mixed reception.

The original Dead Rising sees players explore a zombie-infested mall as photojournalist Frank West, a Photojournalist by trade who can’t seem to take a day off, even with a zombie apocalypse on the cards.
You’re tasked with taking different types of pictures to get Prestige points, and this is where the subtle but important change lies.

Erotica Feature Removed As Quality-Of-Life Change
According to aFamitsu article,Capcomremoved the “Erotica” category when snapping pics in-game.The change wasn’t widely broadcast by Capcom but was taken more as a quality-of-life adjustmentamong many gameplay improvements they promised for the remaster.
In the original game, you were incentivized to take pictures as Prestige Points, which, in turn, allowed you to level up Frank and make him a better zombie-killing machine.

One of many different picture categories within the game, “Erotica,” rewarded you for taking upskirt, cleavage, or generally revealing shots of women in the game. Despite not being a massive point earner, this feature rewarded inappropriate acts nonetheless.
This gameplay change has received mixed reactionsfrom fans online. Some, like many posters underthis TrueAchievements X post, said that this change is why they won’t buy the game anymore.

Others, such as Reddit user Restivethought, suggested that Capcom could have kept the feature and adjusted it by making it count forboth male and femalecharacters.
Canceled Dead Rising 5 Gameplay Footage And Details Leaked Online
The follow-up title would have implemented a new container-based loot system.
As fans go back and forth, the consensus seems to be between positive reception and indifference, with only a minority against it.

However, despite the louder persuasion of fans causing an uproar in online forums,it feels like a change that simply had to occur due to the difference in how society views these crude and sexist mechanics, compared to how they did in the 2000s.
I welcome the change, and quite frankly, I doubt anyone, aside from a few questionable characters, will miss this feature, truth be told.
