Right across the hallway near the doctor’s office, there will be a notice board with Missing Person requests. If you don’t see the Missing Shane request, it means you haven’t progressed far enough in the story. After you interact with the poster, the quest waypoint will take you to Venice Beach.

Finding Shane

To kick off the quest,fast-travel to the Blue Crab Grill on Venice Beach. The quest initially directs you to head to the lifeguard huts. Precisely, you need to head to Hut 17, which you can find in the southernmost part of the beach. Once you head inside the hut, you will find a clue that will take you to Hut 18, which is right beside the hut you are in.

Once you approach Hut 18, you will be attacked by a swarm of zombies, and you need to take all of them down. However, your focus should be on a zombie named Nell, who will drop a note, For Whom the Nell Tolls, upon being defeated. Pick up the note, to get to the next waypoint, which will lead you back to the Santa Monica Pier.

Defeating Lifeguard TJ

Once you reach the Santa Monica Pier, you will be greeted by a rather formidable enemy, which you don’t usually see in Lost & Found quests. TJ The Lifeguard who is an Inferno Crusher can be quite tricky to deal with if you don’t have the right weapons equipped. It is resistant to fire weapons, so your focus should be on using non-fire-based weapons. Additionally, they can deal fire damage to players, so you should be wary of that.

A good strategy to deal with Inferno Crushers is to use Chem bombs or Water on them, which weakens them temporarily giving players an opening to deal massive damage on them. Once TJ has been defeated, you will get another note which will reveal that Shane has already fled. The mission concludes by awarding the player 2,000 XP.
