Seven years after going on hiatus following lead singer Chester Bennington’s tragic death in 2017, Linkin Park is now looking forward to returning to making music back again with Emily Armstrong joining them. As they revealed during the announcement of their comeback, she will replace Bennington as the new co-lead vocalist of the longtime fan-favorite rock band.

But it seems like before she could even embark on her pristine journey with this band, Armstrong’s past is resurfacing to haunt her. This comes after she faced criticism and backlash over her perceived support of s-xual assault charged Danny Masterson during his 2020 preliminary hearing. Following this, she has recently released an apology statement for the same.
Emily Armstrong is Apologising to Fans for Her Past Controversial Actions
Days after she was announced as the new co-lead vocalist forLinkin Park, Emily Armstrong’s career seems to be in a tumultuous uproar. This is because she was recently called out by Chrissie Carnell-Bixler’s husband Cedric Bixler-Zavala, the former of whom was one of the accusers ofDanny Mastersonin his s-xual assault cases, over her past actions.
A few years back, she was asked to support Masterson in court during his preliminary hearing in 2020, and considering him a friend, Armstrong agreed to do it. However, only later did she seem to realize the gravity of the situation and regret her actions, considering how, followingthe backlash she received, the singer released an apology statement.

“I would say it’s not as bad as Jar Jar Binks”: Linkin Park Co-Founder Didn’t Mince Words About How He Truly Felt About Michael Bay’s Transformers That Ruled an Era
Taking to her Instagram handle@emilyarmstrong, theDead Saraco-founder posted a story to“clear the air about something that happened a while back.”Without naming anyone, she confessed her crimes, saying:
Several years ago, I was asked to support someone I considered a friend at a court appearance, and went to one early hearing as an observer.

At the same time, the singer, who will be replacingChester Benningtonalso admitted that she regrets it all and held no immoral intentions behind her actions, saying:
Soon after, I realized I shouldn’t have. I always attempt to see the good in people, and I misjudged him. I have never spoken with him since. Unimaginable details emerged and he was later found guilty.

Concluding, Armstrong made a strong confession to clearthe air surrounding itonce and for all:To say it as clearly as possible: I do not condone abuse or violence against women, and I empathize with the victims of these crimes. Period, for that, is pretty much the perfect answer to shut down speculations of her still being in support of Masterson in light of her past actions.
Linkin ParkFans React to Emily Armstrong’s Apology Statement
WhileEmily Armstrongseems to be trying really hard to clear her name amidst her exclusive debut in the fan-beloved rock band, it seems likeLinkin Parkfans are being generously giving after all. This is because quite a lot of them are standing in support of the singer and are willing to move past her previous mistakes and embrace her debut in the band rather happily.
Taking toX, here’s how these fans are reacting to the same:

This is a very valid response and anyone upset with her still is just choosing to be angry
Fair. Good for her to address it and move on. She sounds awesome with LP! Very excited to hear the new album.

Should have never had to make this statement. We ALL support her and the band moving forward 🙂
This shit is so lame man, they were friends for years and he hadn’t been convicted yet. They did the same to Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis. Obviously once it came out that he did that shit she cut him off, but people are entitled to a trial.
So the world did that thing where something good happens to someone so they scour their entire history to find something that could ruin them
I like her as the new singer and I thought she sounded great. I couldn’t care any less about anything else
People should move on! She’s the new vocalist of Linking Park and she’s here to stay

All in all, Armstrong’s exclusive apology statement admitting to her mistakes and standing with the victims aims to clear the air surrounding her past actions. AndLinkin Parkfans, for one, most definitely seem to be showing full support and willingness to move forward.
The only thing that remains to be seen is how this situation escalates between the accuser’s husband and the singer, going forward, and if this mistake poses a bane to Armstrong’s debut in the iconic rock band.
