“They annoy me”: Dakota Johnson on Her Madame Web Co-stars as Movie Transforms into Her Career’s Greatest Failure
Director S.J Clarkson toldComicbook.comthat she wanted to focus on Cassandra’s Web’s story and not necessarily stuff on the origins of the other three characters. She further stated that there is a lot of time to explore these characters in future films andMadame Webwas a chance to offer audiences the spirit of these characters. She said,
“Well, I thought it would be a bit greedy to do four origin stories. That’s not really fair, is it? I’ve got to share it. Come on. I mean, first and foremost, it’s Madame Web, right? But I hope the exciting thing about it is this is a tease.

And I think the origin story of the girls were given, hopefully, a hint of the spirit of who they are. that’s a lot of story to tell, I think, in one [movie]. And I think it wouldn’t do any of them justice to try and sort of crowbar or cram it all into one movie. So I think it’s Madame Web’s.”
Unfortunately, those plans are most likely not happening as the film has performed very poorly at the box office. As of now, the film has only managed to earn only $51 million in its extended opening weekend (viaBox Office Mojo).

Madame Web is currently playing in theaters worldwide.
