When the Nintendo Switch 2was revealed last month, we saw the usual suspects: first-party Nintendo games headlined by Mario & Co. which didn’t come as a surprise.
What did come as a shock was seeing mature third-party titles like Cyberpunk 2077 get announced, since that doesn’t seem to fit the demographic Nintendo’s going after, right?

CD Projekt RED Thinks The Nintendo Audience Is Now Different From Years Past
According to Jan Rosner, VP of Business Development at CD Projekt RED (viaThe Game Business), Nintendo’s audience is growing, and much wider than it was years ago.
“Nintendo’s audience is growing and broadening and it’s quite a bit different from what it used to be even a few years ago. “I think Nintendo is realizing that, and we have seen a big number of titles announced on the Switch 2 which you would maybe not immediately think of when it comes to [Nintendo]. With that said, we have also had the very cool experience with The Witcher 3 on the original Switch. And we know that there is an appetite for big open world AAA RPGs, which you would normally expect to be released on PC and [other] consoles,” the exec shares.

Of note, CD Projekt RED also released The Witcher 3 on the original Switch, and it seems the developers are happy with its performance, even if there’s no actual numbers available for it.
Rosner states, “I remember the conversations a few years back [where] we were wondering if there would an audience for this kind of game on Nintendo Switch. “The Witcher 3, back then, was one of the first games of this kind to be released on Switch 1. It’s sort-of the precedent that there is absolutely an appetite for games like this on the platform, and that Switch is about more than first-party titles.”
