Conor McGregor’s Retirement From MMA
In 2019, the news of an investigation being conducted against Conor McGregor broke out. As the laws in Ireland strictly prohibited the media from name-dropping McGregor, any news regarding the alleged assault was reported, referred to him as an “unnamed sportsman” via (New York Times). No charges were pressed against him, and McGregor was arrested only for interrogation by the authorities. With the investigation still going on, McGregor shocked the world by announcing his retirement in March 2019, through a tweet.
Hey guys quick announcement, I’ve decided to retire from the sport formally known as “Mixed Martial Art” today.I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition.I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement.Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas!

Many found the timing of this announcement and McGregor’s decision to step away from the octagon completely as the investigation still in progress interesting. The public directly correlated this move with the assault allegations. Even as no comment was made from McGregor or the UFC on the subject, Karen J. Kessler, his New Jersey-based publicist asserted that McGregor’s decision to retire was in no relation to the investigation or the deed he was accused of. Kessler’s statement read, as per theNew York Times:
“This story has been circulating for some time, and it is unclear why it is being reported now. The assumption that the Conor retirement announcement today is related to this rumor is absolutely false.”

The news divided McGregor’s loyal and global fanbase, who all wanted answers.
What Happened on June 20, 2025?
The details of the alleged assault, which happened on June 25, 2025, are shrouded in mystery. This let speculation run wild for a good few years.
In March 2019, theNew York Timesfirst reported that McGregor was under investigation in Ireland. After a woman accused him of sexual assault in December, the Garda Síochána: the national police force of the Republic of Ireland, started investigating McGregor’s involvement in the matter.

The Easiest and Most Difficult Way to Kill Conor McGregor in Hitman World of Assassination
The details of the situation were fairly unknown. However, the accuser testified in court earlier this week and shared what transpired between her and McGregor on the night of the alleged assault. In the Republic of Ireland, a civil lawsuit does not give the right to anonymity to either party. In her testimony, Nikita Hand, a Dublin hairdresser, said that the alleged incident happened at the Beaver Hotel, situated on the outskirts of Dublin.
As reported byBBCHand told the jury in the Dublin High Court that McGregor had picked her up and a friend of hers after a Christmas Party. The women left under the impression that they were being taken to another party. They were joined by another man, James Lawrence. And McGregor took them to his penthouse suite at the hotel. In her testimony, Hand, who admitted to being under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the alleged incident, recalled clarifying to McGregor that she was not there for sex. But Hand claims soon she was in a chokehold. Hand told the court earlier this week:
“He pinned me down on the bed, I held my hands to my chest, and he put his body weight on top of me. My only defense was to bite him. He didn’t like it. So he flipped around and had me by the neck and shoulders. I couldn’t move, I was staring at the bedpost thinking about my daughter, thinking I was gonna die. I just let him do whatever he needed to do, so I could survive, I wasn’t myself anymore.”
Hand alleges that McGregor then forcefully undressed her and raped her.
Complainant Nikita Hand Relayed the Aftermath of the Alleged Incident
Days following the alleged attack, Nikita Hand told a colleague and then her mother about it, who called 999 and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Her gynecologist, Dr Daniel Kane, at the Rotunda Hospital examined her on December 10 (viaBBC). Doctor Kane, who also testified in the court noted that there were several injuries on the complainant’s hand. He also showed photographic evidence of the injuries. The doctor told the court that Hand was“shaking and crying”throughout the examination.

After the alleged assault, as Hand told the court, McGregor left. She was with the second defendant James Lawrence, who tried to calm her down by bringing her burger and chips and saying:
“I can’t believe I was in this room when that was happening to you.”
Later, Lawrence claimed to the gardaí that he had sex with Hand in the hotel the same night. To which she claimed to have no memory of.
Along with the doctor’s statement, the CCTV footage of the hotel was also presented in the court. It shows Hand and Lawrence barefoot carrying drinks in their hands, struggling to use the lift to return to their room. In the footage, McGregor can be seen leaving the hotel at 18:00 GMT that night. Whereas, Hand and Lawrence stayed there for a couple more hours, leaving at 22:17 GMT. The footage slightly contradicts Hand’s claims.
On the other hand, the defense denies anything of the sort happening. And that Hand is attempting extortion.
McGregor was never charged on any claim made by Hand, but the allegations have made a significant impact on his reputation. Even though McGregor might try to continue to regain his footing as a mixed martial artist, his golden legacy will forever be tinged with these accusations.
However, only one side of the story has been presented yet. Nothing has been proven as of yet. McGregor’s fans from around the world await the judge and the jury’s verdict.
