The severely neglectedCode Geasscharacter who deserved greater recognition
Revenge is a dish best-served cold, but rebellion always burns bright.Code Geassis regarded as an alternate-history sci-fi anime that showcases theviolence of imperial wars and resistanceto colonization.
Lelouch has been the star of the series because of his noble intentions to make the world a better place for his sister. Despite being the protagonist,Lelouch’s immoral methodsto depose the Britannia Kingdom turn him into a villainous character.

While Lelouch was undeniably the highlight of the series, the intense focus on him overshadowed other remarkable characters, whose impressive traits and leadership skills left a lasting impression on the audience.
One such character is Jeremiah Gottwald, who started as a prominent figure but was gradually pushed into the background as the series progressed.

Jeremiah Gottwald is the former leader of the Purebloods, a group of Britannian purists who oppose the Honorary Britannian System for allowing non-Britannians to rise within the empire.
He was later demoted in rank and status after he supposedly betrayed the Empire. In actuality, Jeremiah’s “betrayal” was simply a ruse orchestrated by Lelouch using his Geass.

After being demoted, Jeremiah was largely pushed to the sidelines, despite being one of the series’ standout characters, consistently showcasing immense skills that proved his worth far surpassed that of any average soldier.
He starts off very close-minded and obsessed with taking down Zero for bringing him shame, only to become one of Lelouch’s most loyal allies after realizing that he is the son of Marianne vi Britannia, to whom he was deeply devoted.
Jeremiah eventually gave up his obsession with noble status and military life to run an orange farm with Anya Alstreim, whom he seems to have adopted after helping her recover her memories from the lingering effects of Geass.
Despite his unwavering loyalty to Lelouch, Jeremiah never received the recognition he deserved. Even after Lelouch became emperor, he should have been promoted to Knight of the 11, especially since all the Knights of the Round, except Suzaku, turned against him.
Yet, Jeremiah remained sidelined, causing many to forget just how capable and valuable his character truly was.
