Quick Links
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33has some weird enemies that are hidden off the beaten path. The Scavenger is absolutely one of those, since there are a few hoops to jump through before you can even fight it.
This is one of the more complicated fights in the game, but overall, it boils down to a war of attrition. This boss is rocking a ton of health and has some annoying attacks, so don’t run in half-cocked thinking you’ll be able to blow it away with ease.

Hopefully, this guide will make you more prepared to take on Scavenger and earn some tasty loot in the process. Not to mention that awesome track that plays as you attempt to take them down.

How to Find Scavenger
First, you’ll need to travel to Falling Leaves, which you can only get once you’ve acquired Esquie’s ability to swim. You’ll find it on the western side of the map, just southwest of Old Lumiere.
Once you’re there, head past the Expedition flag, and you should come across a young boy standing outside a door. Speaking to him will get you started, but you’ll still have some work to do.

After talking to him, head back toward the flag and veer left, which should lead you downward. You should see a large upside-down woman hanging from the ceiling. Speak to her; then you can head back to the boy.
There is aManor Doorhere just to the left of the Sap Lady. Going inside shouldn’t impede you at all, so feel free to make a quick pit stop to open it up.

Return to the young boy and follow the now-open path upward until you hit another Expedition flag. This will be your last opportunity to rest and make any adjustments to your party members before you get into this fight.

How to Prepare for Scavenger
When I took on Scavenger, I was a bit overleved, but it was still a rather long fight. If you’ve got a preferred healer or way to keep your party members alive, I suggest bringing them along.
This big, spooky lady can be very annoying, but don’t let it get you down. Make sure you’re coming prepared with the right party members and skills, and everything should work out fine.

Best Party Members
I used Maelle, Verso, and Monoco, all between level 40 and 50. I didn’t find this area until after completing most of the game, so if you’re taking it on in Act II, you may want to adjust your party some.
I focused entirely on damage and parries by utilizing several Pictos that would enhance my counter damage and heal me whenever I parry. This acts as its own sort of self-sustain, but you may want to bring along Lune to provide some extra healing.

These should help you get plenty of damage and keep you alive throughout the fight. Since it is a decently long encounter, you may want to consider using some turns to heal your party members with Tints if you don’t have a dedicated healer.
The only party member I can’t recommend bringing is Sciel. A lot of her attacks do Dark damage, which will only heal this boss. Avoid Dark attacks at any cost.
This will be a battle of attrition, no matter how you slice it, so bring someone to keep you alive and someone to do some big damage. Even with all that, this fight could take you upwards of ten minutes.

Scavenger Attack Breakdown
Boasting roughly seven moves, Scavenger has a lot of tools at its disposal. Being prepared for these ahead of time will make it much easier to take down.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: Best Weapons For Verso
The dual-wielder has one of the best weapons in the entire game.
How to Beat Scavenger
If you use any sort of Dark damage attacks, Scavenger will simply absorb and heal from them. Your number one primary goal is survival, followed closely by damage.
As I’ve said before, this can be a long fight, so you’re going to need to stay on your toes throughout the duration. I use parries to heal and keep my AP up so I can continuously attack with my high-powered moves.
Verso is a must-have for his high Light damage attacks, which are a weakness for Scavenger, so verify you use those often. Let’s run through my strategy, which focused on doing Break damage and Gradient Attacks.
This is not a fight I recommend taking on until you’ve beaten Act II and can use thePainted Powerpictos to get your attack damage above 9,999. If you take it on sooner, you would probably be okay provided you can survive the onslaught of attacks, but it’ll take far longer to finish off Scavenger without it.
With so many attacks, you’ll be a bit hard-pressed for some of them to dodge or parry, but hopefully, these tips give you the edge for some of the harder attacks to judge:
With all that, you should be ready to take on Scavenger and come out victorious. Now let’s see what you’ll get for your time.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: Best Weapons For Monoco
The feet-lover has his fair share of bells to help him in combat.
Scavenger Rewards
For this nice, long fight, you’ll receive some great loot plus something additional from the young boy once you speak to him again.
After you talk to the young boy again, he’ll give you the Until No Life music record for you to listen to in camp. If you’re looking to complete some of the moredifficult achievementsin Expedition 33, this will be a step in the right direction.
That’s just one of the many side bosses in Clair Obscur. While not one of thehardest bossesin the game, it can certainly give you some trouble if you take it on too early without any prep.
