This time around, unlike your encounter against Évèque, you’ll have a new party member to utilize in Maelle. This rounds out your team into a full group of three, though you still don’t have any options outside of fighting with Gustave, Lune, and your new recruit.

Best Skills to Use Against Goblu
There isn’t one super important skill to use here. Gustave’sLumiere Assaultis great at getting through Goblu’s shields. Additionally, hisOvercharge, along with Maelle’s Fleurent Fury, will be crucial to break Goblu and deal some hefty damage. Lune can dish out some punishment as well.
Again, this is an endurance test, not a sprint, so play smart.

Goblu has quite a few abilities up its sleeve, all of which require a different course of action. They’re not all about dodging or parrying, as some of Goblu’s abilities will only affect itself rather than our party.

Goblu will jump into the air and slam on the ground three times, dealing damage to the entire party.
“Goblu performs a melee combo.”
Goblu will approach a party member and perform a combo of melee attacks.
“Goblu grows flowers.”
Goblu will grow some flowers on the battlefield. They will eventually buff him in a future turn.
“Goblu absorbs the flowers' power.”
The flowers grant Goblu shields, increase his speed, and cause him to do more damage.
“Goblu regenerates its flowers.”
He resets the flowers to grant him more buffs in a future turn.
“Goblu grows many flowers.”
Goblu grows even more flowers.

How To Defeat Goblu
One of the most difficult aspects of the Goblu encounter is that you cannotparryall of his attacks; it’s best to dodge his jump attack, so you won’t be able to always gain the benefits from parrying.
That’s hugely important in a longer boss fight like this. Being able to deal as much damage as possible is the best way to deal with Goblu’s increased potency throughout the fight. Every time he absorbs the flowers, he becomes stronger.
Because of this, your best bet is to save your break attacks until after he starts absorbing them.Yes, you may run the risk of taking increased damage, but staggering Goblu when he’s at his mostpowerfulis when it will be most effective. If you can save that stagger until after he summons additional flowers, you’ll prevent him from gaining the full benefit of it.
Additionally, this is the type of fight where Lune’sThermal Transferwill really come in handy. This skill lets Lune take an additional turn if she consumes two Earth Stains. Being able to double up on the damage before Goblu gets a turn is critical to surviving its onslaught.
As such, you’ll want to spend the start of the fight preparing your party. Use Lune’sEarth Risingto store up those Earth Stains, while Gustave and Maelle are setting up for theirpowerfulbreak attacks.
Gustave will set up hisOverchargewhile accumulating AP. It’s also helpful thatLumiere Assaultis super effective at removing Goblu’s shields.
