Call of Dutyreflects the competitive nature of its gameplay through its marketing. Eager to steal the thunder away from Ubisoft’sAssassin’s Creed Shadows, the game just revealed a new map that is also taking place in Japan which may be purely coincidental forModern Warfare 3.

Perhaps the new map was planned long before the Ubisoft reveal and it benefitted Activision by taking advantage of the hype built up. Regardless, the player base has been waiting for new content and the developers are about to deliver a new playground to explore.

Activision happened to share the first look of the map around the same time a rival developer shared a teaser that is also set in the same country and is the cherry on top.

While there are no official looks or images have been revealed in terms of biomes or the actual location, the gaming community is optimistic that Activision will honor the aesthetic of the country and create a somewhat realistic approach and feel. Some players fear that the developers would let its laziness get the best of them and they would recycle through older assets.
Japan is a very high-profile country and many projects have done their best to represent it. From films to series, it is only right for the country to be featured as a war-torn battleground for a chaotic battle royale video game.

The latest season is not slowing down any time soon and the developers are taking every ounce of inspiration from any popular media at the time. Perhaps Activision did reveal the new map to spite Ubisoft and piggyback off the hype but the gaming community will embrace it with open arms.
