In an era where a frighteningly increasing number of superhero movies have sought to save their heads by blaming their dismal performance on ‘superhero fatigue’, the market is all set to welcome a new entrant.

Filmmaker Andrea Iervolino has gathered a stellar cast to usher in the origin of the first Italian superhero franchise,Bunny Man.The movie, for which shooting is yet to commence, has already intrigued fans. After all, post the release of the first look, the hero has captured everyone’s imagination. But the impact of the publicity has been far from positive all over, with some fans holding reservations.
Bunny Manis set to be the first Italian superhero movie
When filmmaker Andrea Iervolino conceived the plan ofBunny Man, he would not have imagined in his wildest dreams that he would manage to bring on board a cast that includes the likes ofMike Tyson,Bella ThorneandJames Franco.
The trio will further be bolstered by the inclusion of Michele Morrone, Franco Nero, and Ana Golja, who have officially joined hands for the rodeo. With these additions, Iervolino’s confidence about his movie’s prospects must have been boosted.

The project is after all very close to the 36-year-old’s heart. Revolving around the adventures of an anonymous multi-millionaire who decides to don the mask to save the world, and avenge his sister who committed suicide, the movie is all set to be the first in a franchise which will span over 3 movies.
Speaking about the project, Iervolino said,

“It’s a privilege to produce Italy’s first superhero franchise, and I’m confident it will leave a lasting impact on the global market.”(Deadline)

Little did he know that the first look itself would split people across the planet.
Fans can’t wrap their heads around Bunny Man’s head
Andrea Iervolino wanted to mark a departure from the set pattern of superheroes. The world had had enough of Superman and Spider-Man after all. He said,
“I believe Bunny-Man will revolutionize the way we think of superheroes. This character embodies both mystery and modernity, not just in his story but in how the audience relates to him.”

While he was expectant that his creation would turn the conversation around how superheroes were perceived, the fan have found it difficult to wrap their heads around how the character actually looks.
Named Bunny Man, the protagonist actually looks like a Bunny (even Spider-Man doesn’t copy the looks of a spider). And fans can’t help but point how uncanny his looks are.

NGL he looks like a sex offender 😅
are you sure this ain’t a porno?

honestly, I’ve rarely seen a more cringe-worthy movie
That costume must be a joke
In their defense, he does some like a character who is out to perpetrate crime (rather than prevent it).

No matter the backlash, Iervolino is confident that theBunny Manhas what it takes to bring Italian superheroes on the world map.
Emanuele Moretti, CEO, Motus Studios (the studio responsible for distribution), said,
“We strongly believe on the commercial potential of Bunny-Man; we really think it can a start of a very unique independent superhero saga.”
Seems like we have a saga on our hands.
