Pickle is one of themost entertaining charactersin Baki Hanma Season 2. His introduction as a caveman revived in the modern world seems like an outlandish concept thrown in just to up the ante. But that is exactly the point – Pickle represents the extreme end of exaggerated anime storytelling aimed purely at being over-the-top and fun.

His presence enablesinsane fight scenesthat highlight the unrestrained nature of the show. Since he is the major highlight of the first cour of season 2, we should know his objectives, powers, and his background.
Pickle’s Background
Pickle is anancient human who somehow managed to survive the Jurassic apocalypse. He was found encased in a saline geological formation, where he had been preserved in a state of suspended animation for ages. This explains his unusual name, as he was essentially pickled by the mineral-rich waters that surrounded him. When he was freed from the rock, he awoke disoriented and full of savage energy.
Standing over eight feet tall, he has an extraordinarily muscular frame, the result of a lifetime battling dinosaurs and other megafauna in the prehistoric jungles. His strength and primitive fighting instincts served him well in that dangerous era. Though confused by the modern world, Pickle possesses the traits of a survivor.

His facial expressions and body language often reflect asimple, primal outlook focused on satisfying basic needs. He does not understand modern speech or social conventions. However, with time and exposure, Pickle will adapt to life in the present day. He remains a figure seemingly ripped from the distant past, struggling to find his place.
Personality
Pickle’s personality is primitive, just like his lifestyle. His past life revolved around the hunt. This is his primary way of understanding the world. He views other fighters not just asopponentsbut as potential prey or threats. He does not fight for sport or honor, as many other characters in the series do, but instead fights for survival. Hedoes not speak any modern language and communicates primarily through actions and simple sounds.

Despite this, he is not entirely devoid of complex emotions. He demonstrates respect for those able to match him in physical strength, like Yujiro Hanma. Pickle even forms a bond with the boy Biscuit Oliva, becoming uncharacteristically protective. So, while Pickle lacks sophistication and acts out of primal motivations, he alsoshows the potential for camaraderie, allegiance, and even compassion underneath his savage exterior.
Pickle’s abilities are primarily physical, but they are far beyond what any normal human could achieve. His strength allows him to take on multiple skilled fighters at once and even fight on par with Baki, the series' protagonist. Here are a few of his notable abilities:

Does Pickle Win Against Baki?
The savage fight between Pickle and Baki was not just a battle of brawn versus skill. For the prehistoric caveman, it marked a turning point in his adaptation to the modern world. Pickle initially relied on his massive size and raw strength, honed from a lifetime of hunting prey in the primitive past.
However, Baki’s diverse martial arts skills showed Pickle that more than crude force was needed to survive in this new era. Pushed to his limits, Pickle unlocked a latent ability to learn, demonstrated when he used an unconventional martial arts technique to defeat Baki. Pickle felt he could live in this modern world after all. So even though Pickle won the fight, Baki helped change him forever.
