In case you didn’t know, Ubisoft has delayed Assassin’s Creed Shadows for the second time. Originally planned to be released in November 2024, the game was pushed back to February, which was pushed back yet again, this time to March.

While some might attribute this delay to the developers' desire to polish the game, it looks like a specific part of the game needs more TLC.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Needed More Time For “Roofs”

Ina recent chat, Assassin’s Creed Shadows game director Charles Benoit mentioned the one-month pushback on the release date was “mostly about polishing,” and this didn’t change any significant systems in the game, save for updating “a couple of things in progression to make it more engaging, also balancing a bit more.”

However, the main thing the studio wanted to adjust was the game’s parkour system, which was a little harder to do in Feudal Japan. Benoit notes, “The Japanese architecture, the roofs [are] super complex,” he said. “Probably the most complex thing that I ever worked with if we compared to Odyssey and Syndicate. We needed specific codes and specific animations to support something super fluid, changing the transition of the parkour to make it even more fluid. So that’s one of the specific feedback that we heard that we wanted to address, and it really improved since the last few months.”
