Assassin’s CreedShadows is Ubisoft’s latest foray into the historically-based, open-world formula that they’ve been creating for decades. Like the other more recent entries in the series, Shadows is once again crammed full of well over one hundred quests, side quests, sub-quests, and various other activities to sink your teeth into.
Truth be told, the sheer amount of options available to you can feel overwhelming, and there are plenty of systems and general game design ideas here that can be daunting to take in all at once as well.

Throughout 50+ hours of content simply to get through the main story of Shadows, you’re likely to encounter an occasional roadblock or two. That’s where we come in.
Whether you’re an Assassin’s Creed veteran or are jumping into the series for the first time ever, we have what you need to keep main characters Naoe and Yasuke progressing through Japan as painlessly as possible.

Comprehensive coverage of all our guides is always the goal, so please be patient as our team of writers continues to build out these sections to address everything this massive open-world has to offer. This directory will be updated frequently until it’s complete.
Getting Started
Let’s be honest for a second. Modern Assassin’s Creed titles can be alotto wrap your mind around. Even if you’ve played these games before, jumping back in and trying to get your bearings can initially be overwhelming.
If you’re struggling to settle into the game or simply want to know more about what’s in front of you, we’ve put together a list of articles to get you started on the right foot.

Take a deep breath, and let’s get to it.
Critical Path Objectives
Shadows has a bit of a complicated quest structure overall. With new icons and sections of your objective list popping up constantly throughout the game, it can be a bit confusing to really know what to do next.
Let us help you sort everything out. The quests below are mandatory and will populate in your menu as you continue making progress.

No matter what you do, make sure you’re completing these missions to keep working towards the eventual end of the game.
Onyro/Shinbakufu Targets
For the bulk of Shadows, your main objective is to track down and take out 12 specific targets. Labeled as the Onyro at first, it’s soon revealed that their real title is the Skinbakufu.
Each of these targets has a recommended level you should be at before pursuing, so we’ll list them out below in the recommended encounter order.
All of these objectives are made up of several smaller sub-quests for each target. Everything you need to know for each and every one will be collected together in the relevant walkthrough.
Let’s get busy.
The League Quests
The quests present in The League aren’t always mandatory for main story progression, but can grant you some decent rewards that are worth pursuing nonetheless.
The League itself is Naoe’s ragtag band of allies that she can interact with and recruit to the hideout.
Completing these quests can lead to loot and XP-based rewards, new ally/recruit options, as well as an occasional opportunity for some romance.
