DespiteTulsa King‘s entertainment value, which has proven to be the next big thing for Paramount in the realm of television after Taylor Sheridan’sYellowstone, the show hasn’t been immune to writing mishaps. The shortcomings are more noticeable in the second season, especially with the narrative surrounding Jay Will’s Tyson.

With episode 6 already painting Tyson in a stupid light, as he doesn’t even register the risk of gifting his father a car that was being followed by hitmen all day, episode 7 has certainly doubled down on his rash demeanor.

Rationality Is Out of the Cards for Tyson in Episode 7

While his father Mark survives the explosion, episode 7 sees Tyson being hellbent on exacting vengeance against the people responsible for the bombing. Even though earlier episodes presented the character as a pretty likable accomplice of Dwight, the new episode,Warr Acres, has proven to be the last straw for many viewers, given his rash demeanor.

With Tyson under the impression that Bill might’ve been responsible for the attack, despite pushback from Dwight, the former opts to go with his premature plan to take out Bill. Considering it’s revealed that Bill had nothing to do with the bombing, Tyson’s impatience could now lead to a full-blown war, as he ends up shooting Vic in the arm.

Although Tyson’s motivation to take out the people responsible for putting his dad in the hospital is understandable, his rash acts further paint his incompetence in the criminal world.

Tulsa KingWas the Missing Piece in Sylvester Stallone’s Filmography

For the most part of his career,Sylvester Stallone‘s career has been confined to roles, which were mostly relegated to his physical prowess. While it did make him one of the biggest action icons on the planet, his stardom as an action star overshadowed his chops at delivering long witty monologues. Fortunately,Tulsa Kingfilled this gap in his illustrious career, as theRambostar’s dialogue delivery skills take center stage in the show. Per WriterTerence Winter(viaThe Hollywood Reporter):

One of the first things he said when we met is that people know him as Rocky or Rambo and that ‘I don’t think people even know that I can actually talk.’ So the idea that he has these big monologues and chunks of comedy, it was really a pleasure for him. When he read the pilot, he said, ‘This fits me like a tailor-made suit. This is who I am in real life — if I were a mobster.’ So, that he’s comfortable with it and comfortable saying it makes me feel good as a writer. This is basically who he is, right?
