According to insiderTom Hendersonvia Twitter/X, almost half of all Call of Duty players are sticking with the PS4 and show no signs of budging. 48% is still a surprising figure, especially since Call of Duty pushes out so many huge updates and is fairly graphically hefty when it comes to frame rates but, like the old saying goes, if it ain’t broken…
This goes to show that Activision won’t want to cut off almost half of its player base as it wouldn’t be a financially wise move. This is also true when it comes to the Switch, as in 2022, Microsoft entered into a 10-year commitment to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo consoles following its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, so it’s likely that COD will also be on theNintendo Switch2 when it releases.
Mat Piscatella, Executive Director and Video Game Industry Advisor at Circana,tweetedthat the most played games in the US are Fortnite, Minecraft, Roblox, Grand Theft Auto V, and Call of Duty and since they are all available on the last generation of consoles, most players are happy with that and don’t want to waste their money on a PS5 just yet.
