Since the originalAlan Wake, where you only had a pistol or rifle at most, Remedy has vastly improved its weapon arsenal variety inAlan Wake 2.
From a crossbow to three types of shotguns.Alan Wake 2 has some great weapons, and the latest addition to that catalog is the Black Rock Launcher in the Lakehouse DLC.

Personally, I think it’s one of the more unique weapons in the series, despite its main use in defeating a certain enemy type in the DLC.
Alan Wake 2: Which Order Should You Play The Game?
Alan Wake 2 is a convoluted story by design, making it confusing to figure out whether to play as Saga or as Alan. Here is a guide to help out.
They’re called the Painted Shadows, one of thenewest changes added with the Lakehouse DLC, and if you want to fend them offwithout having to outrun them, you’ll need to get your hands on this weapon immediately.

There are alsotwo trophies/achievements associated with the Black Rock Launcher, but more on that later, as we now discuss the exact details for getting the weapon for yourself in Alan Wake 2: The Lakehouse.
Location Of The Black Rock Launcher
The Black Rock Launcher is located onSublevel 1 of the Lakehouse facility, specifically in the Inventory section of the floor.
There’s a switch in the Panel Control Room section. Activate it once to progress past this floor via the elevator, and remember to reactivate it once you get back to access the room containing the Black Rock Launcher.

However, the most important thing here is that you need aSecurity Clearance 02 keycard,or you won’t be able to access the room containing this weapon.
Thatkeycardis availableon Sublevel 2,a floor you’ll go to after clearing Sublevel 3.

To be brief, the latter is where you’ll get your hands on a pump-action shotgun for Kieran Estevaz and face your first true combat encounter of the DLC against the Taken.
The area then loops until you complete a short puzzle of moving a generator battery in the same area beforereactivating the power to take the elevator to Sublevel 2.

How To Get The Keycard And Advance Sublevel 2
Once you’re on Sublevel 2, aptly named “Holding and Observation,” since the floor is on lockdown, you canignore most of the enemies in the locked rooms;you need to disable this lockdown in the Control Center section of the map.
On the way there, you can talk to a friendly NPC, Ed Booker, in the South Holding Cell for some intriguing lore about his involvement in the narrative.
Most importantly, you can also check out one of thecomputer code puzzlesright next to his cell, one of the five you need to solve as part of the trophies/achievements in the Lakehouse DLC.
Collect the keycard off of the body at the Control Center panel, solve the code of the computer password to override the lockdown, and now retrace your steps back to the elevator.
Put down any enemies you face on your way back because you won’t return here again unless you miss any collectibles.
Back on Sublevel 1,hit the switch again that you previously used to move the paintings aroundso that it moves the painting wall away from the Black Rock Launcher Room’s entrance door.
Head to the room, use your new 02 Clearance Card to open the door and head inside to the right to collect your shiny new Black Rock Launcher.
How To Use The Black Rock Launcher
The Black Rock Launcher functions similarly to a Grenade Launcher, or if you’ve played enoughDestiny 2like me, it almost resembles theEx Diris Grenade Launcherin its usability.
To use it effectively on the Painted Shadows, you need to charge the weapon for a second or sobefore firing it, and if done right, it kills them in one shot.
Keep in mind thatammo is scarceto find for this weapon.
If you want to hunt down the two achievements that correlate to using it,it’s best to turn on the Infinite Ammo optionfrom the Gameplay menu settings.
Once you get this weapon, we strongly advise making a manual save in the Sublevel 4 safe room to ensure you’re able to reload the game back for the enemy-related achievements since you fight both the Painted and Taken enemies on this floor before the finale.
We’ve listed those two trophies/achievements below in case you want to knock them off your list for 100 percent completion.
While the first one can obviously be done on Sublevel 4 with the Infinite Ammo option enabled, the latter is best done right after you get the Black Rock Launcher on the Painted Shadow of Sublevel 1.
Simply charge up the weaponbefore they fully emerge out of the walland pull the trigger as soon as you see their spawning animation.
Hopefully, it will unlock the trophy/achievement; if not, you could always just reload your manual save and try again.
