Despite not needing much leg work for the movie, Adam Sandler felt the effects of his age when his hip began to act up during the filming ofthe Netflix sequel. After the movie wrapped production, Sandler had to undergo hip replacement surgery to fix the issue. Later, he would go on to express some regret about not training physically before starting to work on the film.

Speaking toVarietyin a March 2023 interview, the actor revealed:
My goddamn hip, I had to change that at the end of the movie. I kept saying, ‘Something’s going on with my hip, man. I’m in trouble.’ And then during this and this other movie I did, I was like, ‘Yeah, I definitely gotta x-ray that thing,’ and we were in trouble […] You never know what the hell you’re gonna get up from. I’m sluggy, man. My body hurts.

Adam Sandler’s 2023 sequel raked in a paltry 46% rating onRotten Tomatoes, a slight upgrade from the previous film’s 43%. Despite the low ratings, Sandler’s murder mystery movies hit the sweet spot for most viewers who love the genre without the added intensity of Hitchcockian thrillers (likeRear Window) or the tense buildup of detective mysteries (likeMurder on the Orient Express).
