As we go on five years since the release ofTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, there have been whispers ofActivisionprepping to bring the iconic franchise back and remaster more beloved titles from the past.
Last year, Tony Hawk saidthere is a future for the franchise. “I’m not supposed to tease anything…about the future of the series,” he told fans in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Tony Hawk Pro Skater, “but there will be a future.”

Now, we have a little more concrete proof about what that future looks like. Professional skater Tyshawn Jones recently appeared on theBreakfast Club podcast, where his legacy as a black pro skateboarder came up. While Jones talked about his love of playingSkateas a kid, he also dropped an interesting nugget about a new Tony Hawk game:
I’m in the Tony Hawk coming out. They got a new one they remastered that’s about to come out…I was in the last one.
Remastering Tony Hawk 3 and 4 Is A No-Brainer
While it’s easy to assume that Jones meant the upcomingSkategamefrom EA, it’s important to note that he said he was in both the last Tony Hawk game and an upcoming remaster.
Unless EA, which is taking its time withSkate, is remastering the old games, Jones is 100% talking about a new Tony Hawk game, to which I say that it’s about time.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2is a textbook definition of a perfect remaster, giving the beloved classic games the respect they deserve for a new audience. You’d figure that going through the series andremastering 3 and 4was a no-brainer.

Sadly, Activision had other plans for developer Vicarious Visions, having shifted to become part of Blizzard Entertainment and focusing on another remaster:Diablo II: Resurrected.
With Activision and Blizzard now under the Microsoft family, it remains to be seen if the old team will handle a potential new Tony Hawk remaster. Here’s to hoping they will.
