Their immense powers are causing an imbalance in hell. This caught fans’ attention as they hoped to see more of what was going on in hell.

Bleach Special ChapterHints at the Return of the Strongest Captains

The most interesting part of the one-shot was the implication that if Kubo decides to explore the hell further, we could see the return of some of the strongest captains in the series. It’s common knowledge that after a Soul Reaper’s death, their body dissolves into reishi and returns to the world. However, Head General Yamamoto was extremely strong and to maintain the balance between the three realms, he was sent to heaven.

Similarly, Unohana and Ukitake are also in hell.  Many fans suspect that the captains could even return as villains. Having a villain as strong as Yamamoto would be exciting on a whole different level. Moreover, we might see Unohana and Ukitake’s Bankai as well.
