PlayStation announced a State of Play for June 20, 2025, which will focus on PS4 & PS5 games from Japanese publishers. Here are our 7 best predictions for which games could be revealed.
Several Japanese publishers are working closely with Sony and PlayStation, including Capcom, Square Enix, Sega, and Japan Studio. All these studios could reveal some juicy trailers or brand-new games at the State of Play showcase.

7 Predictions for the State of Play on June 26, 2025
1. Final Fantasy XVI
Square Enix first revealedFF16at the PlayStation 5 reveal event in 2020. After failing to fulfill his initial promise to show the game in 2021, the game’s producer, Naoki Yoshida,promised we’ll see the JRPG in 2022with a big trailer.
2. New project from Team Ico at Japan Studio
Fumito Ueda and Team Ico teasedin January 2021a new project, followingIco, Shadow of the Colossus,andThe Last Guardian. This new project could get revealed at the State of Play.
3. Shin Megami Tensei V on PlayStation 4 & 5
It’s very likelySMT Vis not a permanent Nintendo Switch exclusive. The apocalyptic JRPG was listed in theinfamous GeForce leak. A PlayStation release could be announced at the State of Play. And Atlus could confirm a PC release right after the showcase.
4. Bloodborne PS5 upgrade
This is one of the most sought-after upgrades and ports. Right now,Bloodborneis only available on PS4, and was published on August 09, 2025. A PS5 remaster running in 60 FPS isn’t a far-fetched idea. It would be a great way to celebrate the game’s 7th anniversary.
5. Resident Evil 4 Remake
This could be the best occasion for Capcom to officially reveal the remake ofResident Evil 4.The original game, first released on Nintendo Gamecube in 2005, still holds up today. So making a satisfying remake gameplay-wise might be a difficult task.
6. Gravity Rush PS5 remasters
Gravity Rush, also known asGravity Daze, was one of the best games on the PS Vita, and its sequel on PS4 was incredible as well. Sadly, the game’s online servers, used for a unique gameplay part, were shut down quite fast. A remaster containing both games will be great for those who have yet to discover these masterpieces, which most notably have an incredible OST by Kohei Tanaka (Gunbuster,Sakura Taisen,One Piece).
7. New fantasy project by Atlus and Vanillaware
Vanillaware and Atlusteased a new fantasy projectin the first demo for13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.That was back in March 2019. 13 Sentinelsis a masterpiece praised bySmash BrosdirectorMasahiro SakuraiandNieRdirectorYoko Taro, so Japanese games fans are all waiting for what the studios will do next. Similarly, Atlus could finally reveal more onProject Re Fantasy, which is in development ever sincePersona 5was first released in September 2016.
