Much loved American actor Lance Reddick tragically passed away from heart disease in 2023, aged just 60. The star had a prosperous acting career that included prominent roles on television shows likeThe Wire,Fringe,Bosch,Oz,Lost, andPercy Jackson and the Olympians.

On the big screen,the late actorwas perhaps best known for his role in theJohn Wickfranchise from 2014 until his death. However, he’s also appeared in several other highly watchable movies.
These are six excellent non-John Wickmovies in whichLance Reddickhas a prominent role. If you miss him, get them watched.

White House Down (2013)
The political action thrillerWhite House Downfollows a divorced US Capitol Police officer and Afghanistan veteran as he attempts to rescue his daughter and the U.S. President from a terrorist assault in the White House by a paramilitary team led by an ex-Delta Force operative. The cast is led byChanning Tatumas the Capitol Police officer andJamie Foxxas the President.Lance Reddickplays General Caulfield, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and is a formidable and authoritative presence.White House Downis pure entertainment. It’s not Oscar material by any means, but it benefits massively from the chemistry of its leads and makes viewers laugh and sit on the edge of their seats.

The Guest (2014)
The Guestis a thriller about an American soldier who visits a family unannounced, claiming to be a friend of their son who died in combat in Afghanistan. His arrival coincides with a series of deaths, and the family’s daughter suspects the soldier is involved – and her suspicions are justified.Dan Stevensplays David Collins, the soldier, and he brings lots of personality to the proceedings.Lance Reddickplays Major Richard Carver, the head of a private corporation called the KPG, who assembles a team to deal with the situation, and he does so in a typically astute fashion.The Guestis a dark, intelligent, violent movie. Most importantly, it’s a lot of fun.

Faults (2014)
Faultsis a psychological thriller with elements of black comedy. It follows a cult deprogrammer whom a couple hires to help their daughter, who is under the influence of the mysterious eponymous cult. Leland Orser plays Ansel Roth, the cult deprogrammer, andMary Elizabeth Winsteadplays Claire, the young girl under the cult’s influence.Lance Reddickplays Mick, an actor hired to intimidate Roth to prevent him from getting to Claire. It’s a fascinating film with a top cast bringing their A-game. Orser, in particular, is superb, and Reddick plays his part perfectly as a looming threat throughout. The mix of comedy and seriousness is balanced terrifically.

Monster Party (2018)
The horror thrillerMonster Partyis about three friends performing highly coordinated heists and infiltrating a dinner party in a Malibu mansion. The trio soon realizes the party guests aren’t what they seem and finds their seemingly simple cash grab transforms into a desperate and bloody battle for survival.The Boys’Erin Moriarty, who plays the daughter in the family who owns the mansion, is the biggest name in an otherwise reasonably little-known cast. Lance Reddick plays Milo, a dinner guest revealed to be the leader of a group of recovering serial killers, and he does so in a fiendishly maniacal fashion.Monster Partyis a twisted riot with plenty of humor and gore to entertain any viewer.
The Domestics (2018)
The post-apocalyptic action horror movieThe Domesticsis set in a world in which the global ruling class of humanity has conducted a cataclysmic chemical weapons attack on the United States to “reset” society amidst a population crisis. It starsTyler HoechlinandKate Bosworthas a husband and wife attempting to travel across the countryside in search of safety under the looming threat of deadly factions of fellow survivors. Lance Reddick plays Nathan Wood, a more benevolent survivor encountered by the couple, and he does so with equal charm and ruthlessness.The Domesticsis a gritty, visceral, fast-paced film that’s a lot of fun from beginning to end.
Faith Based (2020)
Faith Basedis a comedy movie about two hapless buddies who decide to make a faith-based film to get rich quickly. Luke Barnett and Tanner Thompson play Luke and Tanner, the two idiot friends who make the film. Lance Reddick plays Pastor Mike, Luke’s adoptive father, the local church pastor, and the man who gives the boys the idea to make the film (though his motive was to save his financially troubled church, not to get rich).Faith Basedis a funny send-up of a movie with surprisingly intelligent and nuanced takes on the themes of friendship and belief. It’s good-natured and can be compared toThe Book of Mormon, which is a huge compliment. The cast – including established stars likeMargaret Cho, David Koechner, andJason Alexander– does well, and Reddick plays his role admirably.
