Whether it be film, television, games and more, there is a slew ofStar Warscontent for fans to consume this year. WithStar Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order,Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker,The Mandalorian, and Disney World and Disneyland’sGalaxy’s Edge, coming later this year, 2019 is without a doubt the biggest year ofStar Warsever.

Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order

InThe Fallen Order, you will play as a Padawan named Cal Kestis who survived Order 66, a motion made by Emperor Palpatine to execute all Jedi. This will bea first-person singleplayer experiencewith technical lightsaber combat. The game is being developed by Respawn Entertainment, which should already be turning a bunch of heads. Respawn is known for making popular game franchises likeTitanfallandApex Legends.Titanfall 2, while not selling well was critically acclaimed as well as having arguably the best first-person shooter campaign this generation.Apex Legends,on the other hand, is a battle royale game with characters of different skills adding a new layer of depth to the genre.

While Respawn is an EA company which is constantly criticized throughout the industry, Respawn has a clean record so fans of theinfamous space seriesand video games should be excited forFallen Order. We received a trailer for the game atStar WarsCelebration last month and while we have not seen any gameplay as of yet, we should expect a reveal during E3 in June.Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Orderis set to release November 15 later this year.

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker

The final episode of the Skywalker Saga will finally hit theaters later this year. With its highs and lows, there is no doubt thatStar Warsis one of the biggest and most influential franchises of all media. While there is a mixed reception in general of the new trilogy that has been made by Disney so far, in the end, fans just love to see more of the series.

We received the first trailer atStar WarsCelebration last month showing Rey, Finn, and Poe going on one last adventure together. The trailer showed off a spectacle of action leading to the end where the heroes find the remains of the Death Star. At the very end, we hear a menacing laugh that anyStar Warsfan can recognize with it being Emperor Palpatine. With this being the first trailer there are sure to be more to come and it is going to be great to hear theories around the internet as we lead up to the film’s release.Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalkerreleases on December 20.

The Mandalorian

With the new acquisition of 20th Century Fox, Disney is launching its own streaming service called Disney+. One of the new shows exclusive to the platform isThe Mandalorian. The show is set to take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope in the outskirts of the Republic. Little is known about the show’s plot itself. What we do know is the show is being helmed by Jon Favreau. Favreau is known for directingIron Man, the film that started the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We also know of numerous popular directors who will each be directing an episode of the show.Taika Watiti(Thor:Ragnarok)andRick Famuyiwa(Dope)are two for example. Watiti will also be voicing a droid in the show. Who the droid is and it’s reoccurrence in the show though is still unknown.The Mandalorianwill release at the same time as the launch of Disney+ on November 12.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Originally announced in July of 2017,Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the new area in Disneyland and Disney World that is based off the property. Galaxy’s Edge is set for visitors to be completely immersed into theStar Warsworld. With a collaboration with Coca-Cola, you can purchase drinks at Galaxy’s Edge that are written in Aurbesh, the basic written form ofStar Wars.

There are two main attractions at Galaxy’s Edge. First is the Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run where you fly the iconic space vehicle and shoot ships while on a mission. The second attraction is calledRise of the Resistancewhere you are trapped in a Star Destroyer and you attempt to escape. This attraction will have interactions with Rey, Finn, and Poe.

While traversing through Galaxy’s Edge you’re able to use an app on your phone called Disney Play. When in Galaxy’s Edge you can turn your phone into a datapad where you can translate Aurbesh to English, slice droids an more. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is opening later this month on May 31. Meanwhile, the Disney World version of the park – opening in Disney’s Hollywood Studios – will open on June 29, 2025.
